What do you make of this?

Details:  The radical-traditionalist Catholic group the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is now under sanction from the Roman Catholic Church for failing to follow Catholic teaching, according to documents released Monday. Except for the scary part about the kidnapped nun this reads like something from the Onion.

"The other branch (of the Slaves), located in Richmond, New Hampshire, has no official recognition from the Catholic Church. The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) classifies the center in Richmond, as well as the group's publishing arm Immaculate Heart Media, as an anti-Semitic hate group. The SPLC wrote that the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary "continue to endorse Feeney and to defend him from charges of anti-Semitism, despite his well-documented hatred of the Jews" and noted that in 2004, Bishop McCormack had rebuked the group as "blatantly anti-Semitic," and that in 2005, a brother of the Slaves had given a speech calling out the "Jewish nation" as "the perpetual enemy of Christ." The center denies being anti-Semitic.

"The Slaves are being sanctioned by the church for their stance on the Catholic teaching that there is no salvation outside the Catholic Church. The Slaves hold to a strict interpretation of that teaching, while the Vatican holds a more nuanced view."

If I become a "none" can I still be saved? It would not surprise me if it were the thought of many nones.

"that only Catholics go to heaven."

Surely, the most perverted heresy within the Church that's been heard recently in Catholic circles. It's reassuring to know that the Church moves so vigorously and promptly to stamp out any and all violations of traditional Catholic doctrine, never allowing any heresy to gain a foothold among the faithful. No wonder purging this sick triumphalism is a top priority of the CDF.

Permanent Deacons are a novelty.

They should be suppressed when the leadership of the Church stops trying to win the approval of movie stars, progressive politicans and crooning inebriates.
