St. Anne’s, my parish, celebrated October as the month of the Holy Rosary with our second annual Solemn Recitation of the Holy Rosary with Exposition and Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament this past Wednesday.
We asked all our second graders and eight graders to sit as a group as they are preparing for Sacraments this year, but all ccd kids and parents we encouraged to attend. Our middle school kids meet on Wednesday nights.
The entire parish was encouraged to attend and I would say with kids and adults roughly 400 were there, more or less.
I gave a brief homily directed to the second and eighth graders and ask rhetorically, “how great is it to be a Catholic with all our Catholic traditions like rosary beads and the Holy Rosary and our wonderful blessed mother who loves us more than our own mothers (our second graders had processed in with a flower which they placed next to our Blessed Mother’s statue) and who gave us Jesus who is with us now under the form of Bread on this altar in the monstrance and we will shortly be blessed by Our Eucharistic Lord”?

That is the faith that we need — the faith of a child.
We need not permit the human drama — all the nonsense — that has always taken place within the Church to disturb us.
Believe in God and His True Church.
We need simply to submit to Pope Francis' Magisterium. We hear Jesus Christ's voice through our great Culture of Life Roman Pontiff, Pope Francis.

Mark you must not have children because if you did and anyone, in particular a priest, molested your teenage boy or girl or child, and you are not disturbed by it, then you are the problem not the solution.

Well said. As a parent I have often stated if the bishops had acted with a modicum of decency and reported these scoundrels to the authorities and then kicked them out of the priesthood if the charges were proved, I would have ADDED money to the collection basket each Sunday, rather than subtracting from it once the perfidy of some bishops became known.
Father, I am amazed that you would question as to whether I am disturbed when child (for that matter, anybody) is molested. Father, why have you interpreted my comment in such fashion?
If anything...if you were around me, you would consider me paranoid in regard to the steps that I take to protect children, women...everybody...from predators.
Father, again, your comment amazed me.

MT I am edifies that you aren’t minimizing the serious damage to children in Pennsylvania and elsewhere by some misguided apologetic that looks at horrors through rose colored glasses or without eyes or heart or minimizes it as some kind of anticatholcism.
“Wherever applause breaks out in the liturgy because of some human achievement, it is a sure sign that the essence of liturgy has totally disappeared and been replaced by a kind of religious entertainment. Such attraction fades quickly – it cannot compete in the market of leisure pursuits, incorporating as it increasingly does various forms of religious titillation” (Ratzinger, Spirit of the Liturgy).
