THE PALL OVER THE CITY OF MACON LIFTS AS PAROCHIAL VICAR LEAVES

Yesterday our parochial vicar, Fr. Dawid Kwiatkowski preached all the Masses to say good-bye as he is leaving us for a new assignment. His last day is this Wednesday. Of course there is a pall over the city with his going.

This is the staff party for him in the rectory after last night's last Mass:
A parishioner leaving the 5:00 PM Sunday Mass took this photo. Carol on another post commented on seeing it and how it gave her hope that the pall over the city was lifting with Fr. Dawid's departure, that there was hope for Macon despite Fr. Dawid's leaving the city. She wrote: "My oldest son and I were at Fr Dawid's last last Mass for today. We were feeling sad and missing him when we left the Church. When we reached the car, the first thing we noticed was a rainbow in the sky, and we knew that he would be okay. God is good!"
Cool, no?

We were so blessed to have him. He is a good orthodox priest. His homilies had such good teachings. We will miss him.
He was blessed to have a good teacher in you too Father Mac. I wonder if he is going to continue the Extraordinary Form at his new assignment.

Can you, will you say why he is leaving...where he is going?

Never mind.

Newly ordained usually spend no more than two years in THIER assignments. He's been with us 3 years and certainly fortunate for him.

Too late

I am so excited!! I live in Augusta, and have heard Father speak at St. Joseph's many times. I'm so happy he's being transferred here. Now Augusta will have two awesome Polish priests.

Andrew, do you understand Spanish?
St. Teresa's is a Spanish speaking parish. Poor Fr Dawid has less than a month to learn to speak a new language!

Please pray for him!

Um... St. Teresa's doesn't appear to be a Spanish parish. Looks like a mega-church according to their website. They are "a Eucharistic community rooted in Roman Catholic Traditions." (LOL)

I don't believe they are predominately Spanish. Though, I can not say for certain because I have never visited. St. Theresa's is about 20 min outside of Augusta and I go to Most Holy Trinity.

I do know St. Theresa's is building a new church though. The place they're in now is the parish life center I believe.

Fr Dawid's first month at St.Joseph was more than one would want any newly ordained priest to have to go through. He came through in impressive fashion.

In the best of all worlds we would be able to have Fr. Dawid here for another three years.

St Theresa's is getting a very good one.

I have had the pleasure of being Shepherded by many good Priests in my day, but Father Kwiatkowski's is for me exceeded only by the Pastor of my childhood Church.

If the Diocese could build Priests in a factory instead of having to have them called, Father Kwiatkowski would be a fine blueprint.

I shall miss his Homolies, even more so now knowing that he received hate mail for them. Henever failed to make me feel like he was talking directly to me, or about me, and I always left Mass feeling challenged by him.

Is he bringing his pink sport coat?
He may have to dye it green... (:

Did anyone notice that if one looks toward the direction up under the rainbow arch, it is East/Northeast
which is the direction of Augusta from Macon? St Joseph Church itself like the rest of downtown Macon is aligned along a NE/SW axis.

George you are right. But actually the rainbow is Fr. Dawid becoming the Flash and leaping from St. Joseph to St. Teresa in Grovetown, a suburb of Augusta just as he leaps up and down the rectory stairs.
