OH LORD SAVE US!

I've always thought that women clergy of Protestant denominations wearing the Roman collar looked masculine. Well, evidently so do many Protestants think this, so a new wardrobe is created for women Protestant clergy. What do ya think about the feminine look?

You know, that is vaguely erotic…I mean I have always liked the "little black dress" look. Put a simple string of pearls around her neck and some heels and …Praise God from Whom ALL Blessings Flow...

I'd rather see the "nunkini" Kate Upton wore.

Looks like something you'd see at the Halloween costume shop.

Carol That's it! The toned down Elvira look...

About as silly a wearing a g-suit.

I saw this on Facebook. I was hoping it was a Halloween outfit.

But I guess if you're going be a heretic, why not do it in style?

RCG, You mean a G-suit like fighter pilots wear?

Fake fashion sensibilities for fake churches.

Was it Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels that did, "Devil With the Blue Dress On?" Hey, I've got one…remember this one:

(To the tune of "Hi Heel Sneakers")

"Put on yo' hi-heel sneakers,
'Cause you saying' Mass tonight.
Put on yo' hi-heel sneakers, girl.
'Cause you sayin' Mass tonight.
And bring some boxing' gloves
In case a real Priest might wanna' fight.

Put on yo' lil' black cassock
And wear some pearls around yo' neck
Put on yo' lil' black cassock, Baby,
And wear some pearls around yo' neck,
Yeah, make that dress start movin'
It's post-Vat II so what the heck.

Put on yo' hi-heel sneakers
And slap that wafer in their hand,
Put on yo' hi-heel sneakers, Darlin',
And slap that wafer in their hand,
'Cause we gonna' have Communion
While rocking' out to a ten-piece band.

Yeah, let the good times roll, Mama,
(blues riffs, etc.)

I had female Lutheran come to a school where I taughtartial arts. I had not formed an opinion beforehand but when she introduced herself as a priest I must have allowed some expression to cross my face. She was very cold after that. Bfortunatelt she never came back.

Why must it also be so short? Nonesense on some pretty nice stilts.

RCG, "artialarts" must be really artsy arts.

RCG, Re: Lutheran girl priest…you mean, like, she was cold to the touch? LOL!

I guess all the Episcopal priests have already put in their orders for one of those dresses.

I'm kind of surprised that the ad didn't show a guy wearing one of these.

I've always wondered why protestants want to dress up like Catholics, with the Roman collar.

This, to my mind, is a strong argument against woman priests.(if say, there were no other arguments and this is how they chose to dress). Of course this is tame compared to what some of our parishioners will sometimes wear.
I can also see where comments on this could devolve to a level which would exceed the appropriateness and dignity of a religion-oriented blog.

Indeed so, George. Fr. did not post my advertising slogans. LOL!

George brought up our parishioners' attire. That's a very good point.

Can that subject be preached on during a homily? Maybe the females haven't been taught it from home?

I've seen some things that have got to be distracting to the opposite sex.

Females are special works of art...but in Church, God is the main attraction.

Desiree, Not only the women need a lesson in how to dress. About half the men look like they just stepped out of a box car. Many are scruffy and frowsy looking, and I am not talking about street people, either.

Ooo! We could make pamphlets and hand them out on proper Church attire!

I love the old drawings of Catholic families. Everyone looks so well-dressed!

We should have photos in our pamphlets of "do's" and "dont's". ;)

We have that poster on our church door.
