Pope Francis presided over the Solemnity of the Lord, celebrated annually in the Sistine Chapel. Since last year and after the issuing of TC turning the clock back (backwardism)) to the time before Summorum Pontificum and Ecclesia Dei, the Mass is now celebrated on a faux altar placed in front of the historic altar of the Sistine Chapel. no central crucifix on the faux altar facing the celebrant.
Cardinal Krejeski was the celebrant of the Liturgy of the Eucharist. He has gained a lot, I mean, a lot of weight and he as trouble walking and needed assistance coming down the steps from the altar. I guess he has knee issues which I can certainly empathize.

That high altar is screaming out, "Use me! Pick me!".
However, it's interesting to note that celebrating Mass facing the people at a free standing altar in the sistine chapel is actually facing east, which is in perfect conformity with tradition and mirror image of St Peters. However, that is not why Mass celebrated ad populum, so I guess the point is moot, but nonetheless in this case, perfectly tradtional.
i don’t know for sure, but I don’t think the Sistine Chapel is geographically situated that when the faux altar (which is not.traditional by any leap of the imagination, especially when the original consecrated altar is behind it) is set up that the celebrant is facing the geographical east.
The tradition of a “liturgical east” is quite traditional and the liturgical east is accomplished when using the altar that was built and consecrated in the Sistine Chapel and languishing behind the fake altar, is used.
