SO MUCH FOR THE gOD OF SYNODS, IT FAILED IN THIS CASE BUT WHAT IS BEHIND THIS LITURGICAL MEELE IN INDIA????

Read the ongoing liturgical violence Vatican II Narcissists withs my commentary below photo. Press title:

Syro-Malabar synod fails to resolve violent row over the Mass

Even though it is an Eastern Rite of the Church, after Vatican II, many of the members of this Rite followed some of the worse developments that happened to the Latin Rite Mass. They began celebrating the “ad populum” way of praying their form of the Mass. This always becomes in small or big way narcissism. It affects the priest first, who becomes like an MC in a television show, and then the people, who become like his audience.

PEOPLE, MANY OF THEM, CLERGY AND LAITY, LIKE MASS WHEN IT IS LIKE A TELEVISION VARIETY SHOW.

Because narcissism focuses more on “me” and “us” rather than God and the transcendent, morality and living life as a Christian goes out the window.

Thus, in India, those clergy and laity who prefer the narcissism of their form of the Mass facing the congregation, rioted, destroyed altars and sacred vessels and have shown complete contempt for their bishops and now the pope. These are progressive Catholics, folks, fundamentalist progressives who think the Mass is about them! I would propose that in the USA, of the 5% of people who actually attend Mass, maybe 3% of those think the Mass is all about them.

Part of the problem, though, is that Vatican II’s way of celebrating the Mass has created monsters. No field hospital or accompaniment will help them.

But the other problem is the authoritarianism of the bishops and supported by the Pope to have a uniform Mass that rules out altogether, Mass facing the people! That’s a head scratcher to say the least, but there you have it.

It is similar to what Pope Francis has done to Catholics who desire the 1962 Roman Missal and sacraments. In an authoritarian way, the pope says that we need a unified Mass and says no to pluralism in the form of the Mass and tries to crush these kinds of Catholics by enraging and inflaming them against His Holiness. Fortunately, they know not to burn now St. Peter’s and Casa Santa Martha—they are Catholics, not narcissists.

But the lesson for the Indian Church is to allow for pluralism, not either/or but both/and. That’s the Catholic way, because its God’s way!

The Novus Ordo with its myriad of options is a recipe for disunity. The TLM whether in Latin or the vernacular promotes unity. The braindead will deny this

Pope Venerable Pius XII declared via his Encyclical, Mediator Dei:

58. "It follows from this that the Sovereign Pontiff alone enjoys the right to recognize and establish any practice touching the worship of God, to introduce and approve new rites, as also to modify those he judges to require modification."

Pope Venerable Pius XII demonstrated the above via his liturgical reforms. Nobody within the Church possessed the authority to have disobeyed said reforms.

Closer to our time, Pope Benedict XVI demonstrated his awesome authority over the Liturgy when he tossed aside the ancient Good Friday Prayer For Jews.

His exercise of Papal authority in question had outraged many folks within TLM communities.

Certain TLM communities had revolted against Pope Benedict XVI's awesome authority over the Liturgy.

However, those who constituted his loyal spiritual children had obeyed Pope Benedict XVI's teaching in question.

The Catholic Way, as taught by Vatican II (Lumen Gentium), is to obey the Pope:

"This religious submission of mind and will must be shown in a special way to the authentic magisterium of the Roman Pontiff, even when he is not speaking ex cathedra; that is, it must be shown in such a way that his supreme magisterium is acknowledged with reverence, the judgments made by him are sincerely adhered to, according to his manifest mind and will."

Mark Thomas,

Have you read Mediator Dei? If you did you would know the Novus Ordo violates its letter and spirit!

You failed to mention that Pope Ming the Merciful declared war on the TLM in violation of Church law and tradition. Cut and Paste Catholicism does not impress Catholics actually trained in the Faith.

Mark Thomas,

I have to agree with TJM. You copy/paste excerpts and, here, critical context regarding what Pope Pius XII was trying to accomplish is missing.

I have tried to be patient and inclusive and I applaud Fr. AJM for reading your posts and working with you toward understanding. Though you at times seem resistant, I'm hoping Fr.'s commentary gives you an opportunity to reflect.

As for me, and perhaps others here, brevity would be both welcomed and appreciated. Often, the quotes and dashes are too much to fight through and I go right past them. Honestly, it makes my eyes tired. Please reflect and consider a change in your approach.

The Syro-Malabars, and any Eastern Church should follow one of the few good things to come out of VII, an invitation to rediscover, preserve and adhere to the traditions of that particular church. The Byzantine Churches have done this over the last 50+ years and are more authentic, Christ-centered and about completely free of disagreement regarding divine worship as a result. We are free to enjoy our rites without the wailing and gnashing of teeth that so greatly burdens the Roman Church. Let tradition free you!

ByzRus,

Thank you! You show a lot more patience than I do with MT, but his cut and paste approach is tedious and does nothing but irritate. Brevity is the soul of wit!

What is the "critical context" in question?

Please cite the source that has supplied you with the supposed "critical context" in question?

Thank you for supporting your claim in question.

Pope Venerable Pius XII had demonstrated the above via the numerous liturgical reforms that he had enacted throughout his reign.

Pope Benedict XVI demonstrated the above when he tossed aside the Roman Liturgy's ancient Good Friday Prayer for Jews.

That is the "critical context" in which the above Popes had acted. They demonstrated that the Pope possesses awesome authority over the Liturgy.

Mark Thomas,

Answer a simple question: have you read Mediator Dei? If you had, how can you conclude the Novus Ordo is consistent with it? None of us are interested in your cut and paste Catholicism. We want to know what you think

MT,

As TJM suggests, please read the Encyclical and understand its historic basis. True, there were some changes that followed, among them what you cited. The Encyclical was written to encourage a renewal of mass as a prayer and to quell destructive reformists who had been making waves since the 1920s, I believe. It was not intended to be a document of NO type enablement.

I'm at work and this is difficult on my phone. Read the Encyclical and understand the basis for its creation.

ByzRus,

Thanks, but “dump and run” won’t likely respond. If one reads Mediator Dei it is clear it did not contemplate a Novus Ordo liturgy but neither did Sacrosanctum Concilium.
