THIS KIND OF STUFF JUST GALLS ME, BUT THIS IS WHAT WE ARE IN FOR AND IT IS ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE

(Stunningly Catholic interview of Cardinal below this which is the antidote to this!)

Secularists  and their new puritanical religion will stop at nothing to neutralize traditional Christianity if these traditional Christians take the moral teachings of Jesus seriously especially as it regards human sexuality and God's design for marriage.

Maybe that is why Pope Francis and His Holiness preferred advisors are watering down through pastoral acquiescence the Church's teachings in these areas to appease those who will strive to shut us down too?

Is this a wise policy or is martyrdom to be preferred?

Those in San Antonio promoting this kind of religious bigotry and hatred are Fascists pure and simple.

Chick-fil-A Banned From Opening in San Antonio Airport

The San Antonio City Council voted to pass a project as long as it didn’t allow Chick-fil-A to open an eatery in the airport.

Chick-fil-A has been banned from opening a store in San Antonio International Airport because of its "legacy of anti-LGBTQ behavior."
The San Antonio City Council on Thursday approved a new concessions agreement at the city's airport that will bring new food chains to one of its terminals.

But City Councilman Roberto Trevino made a motion regarding the deal, amending it so that it did not include a planned Chick-fil-A eatery. Trevino's amendment was approved 6-4 by the council.

"With this decision, the City Council reaffirmed the work our city has done to become a champion of equality and inclusion. San Antonio is a city full of compassion, and we do not have room in our public facilities for a business with a a legacy of anti-LGBTQ behavior," Trevino said. "Everyone has a place here, and everyone should feel welcome when they walk through our airport. I look forward to the announcement of a suitable replacement by Paradies."

But Cardinal Sarah in a new interview has the antidote for the Church! May this prophet be heard and promoted!!!!!!!

Cardinal Sarah: God never abandons His Church

“True reform is about our own conversion,” said CardinalRobert Sarah in a recent interview with a French weekly. “If we do not change ourselves, all structural reforms will be useless. Lay people, priests, cardinals, we must all return to God…”

Cardinal Robert Sarah, prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments, leaves a session of the Synod of Bishops on young people, the faith and vocational discernment at the Vatican Oct. 5, 2018. (CNS photo/Paul Haring)

Press title above for complete article, below are excerpts:

Sarah said that “we must rediscover this primary responsibility of the pope and each bishop.”

“Christ founded a Church whose mode of government is hierarchical. The first person in charge of the Church is the pope. The first person in charge of the local Church is the bishop in his diocese, and not the episcopal conference, which is useful for exchanging (views), not for imposing a direction,” he said when asked about synodality.

The cardinal warned that contradictions between different bishops’ conferences on moral teachings do not serve Catholic unity and faith. “An episcopal conference has no legal authority or competence in the field of doctrine,” he said.

Sarah said that the primary responsibility for the collapse of faith in the West “must be assumed by the priests.” He pointed to decades when, he said, confessionals were empty, liturgy desacralized, and doctrine was not taught in Catholic universities and seminaries.

“Clearly, there is a strong majority of priests who remain faithful to their mission of teaching, sanctification and government. But there is also a small number that yields to the morbid and villainous temptation to align the Church with the values of today’s Western societies,” Sarah said.

“They want above all to say that the Church is open, welcoming, attentive, modern. But the Church is not made to listen, she is made to teach: she is Mater and magistra, mother and educator,” he added.

Cardinal Sarah defended celibacy in the priesthood, calling it one of the “greatest riches of the Church.”

“The abandonment of celibacy would further aggravate the crisis of the Church and lessen the position of the priest, who is called to be not only another Christ, but Christ himself, poor, humble and single,” he said.

The cardinal also emphasized the importance of a united community in facing the challenges of the secularized world, which often opposes “the road of Christ.”

It will open. Fredom of association etc. else they will have to close the Islamic prayer room.

And the good news is that when Cardinal Sarah has been pushed out of the Church for being such a 'rigid neo-pelagian," he can work at Chik-Fil-A.

The Dems running San Antonio are braindead bigots and morons. One of my good friends is openly gay and he LOVES Chik-Fil-A. Does he have to go into a Dem indoctrination camp?

Father McDonald,

Another exampled of Democrats hypocrisy! Where is Nancy Pelosi's much vaunted Catholic Faith? Maybe Kavanaugh can explain why I am wrong.

"Values"---well, maybe not! Texas may be another California in a few years; notice how far-left Beto O'Rourke only lost to Ted Cruz in that state's Senate race by 3 points last time. Heck, California and New York are even coming to Georgia---far-left Stacey Abrams only lost by a point and a half to Brian Kemp in our race for governor last year. In Texas, most of the major cities are now Democratic strongholds---Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. Georgia will turn blue in the next decade---metro Atlanta already is such. Then conservatives will have to retreat to maybe Alabama or Tennessee!

It's rather interesting that inclusion only happens when one agrees with the agenda. Or rather, free speech for me, but not for thee kind of thing. They won't stop here.

Anonymous,

Thanks for pointing out a continuing problem. Democrats RUIN their states with high taxes, over-regulation, such that even many of the loonies there feel the need to escape to more busy friendly states. But they are so lacking in basic logic that they continue to vote for the party that ruined their state to begin with - The Dems aka the Abortion Party. Rinse, repeat. If what you are suggesting were to occur, it would appear that Alabama and Tennessee have brilliant futures ahead, whereas Texas and Georgia, a dim one.

TJM (at 2:39 p.m.):

Why do you insist on continually and gratuitously posting links intended to be critical of the Democrats at every conceivable opportunity even when they are not germane to the subject under discussion? I don’t see others continually and gratuitously posting links critical of Trump and the Republicans. I assure you there is a HUGE amount of material available for such a purpose. It is this sort of thing that might cause people to suspect that you are really a Trump Party operative or other kind of agitator (internet troll?)

Anonymous 2,

To make the point that they are hypocrites and do not have the best interests of normal Americans who believe in our Constitutional Republic. The modern Democratic Party has morphed into a crime organization masquerading as a political party. I think someone with your education could see that quite plainly, evidenced by such recent events as the Smollett case and the unlawful activities of the San Antonio Council in excluding Chick-Fil-A. Or do you approve of such activity? I could ask if you are an Obama operative, assisting him with obstruction of justice in the Smollett matter in Chicago? Wake me up when a Republican ex-president does something like that.

Bee here:

“True reform is about our own conversion,” said Cardinal Robert Sarah in a recent interview with a French weekly. “If we do not change ourselves, all structural reforms will be useless. Lay people, priests, cardinals, we must all return to God…”

In a general way I of course agree with Cardinal Sarah; we all need repentance and conversion. However, it gets a little tiresome as laity lumped in with the atrocities committed by certain clerics, and to be implicated as part of the problem. Yes, we are guilty in a general sense, for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. But please, let's be truthful about why our Church is in such a tailspin.

And as a further insult and heartbreak, I just heard on the news today that the Archdiocese of Chicago is using Catholic cemetery funds (profits from investments, it seems) to pay off sex abuse claims.

You know, all of my immediate family, and many members of my extended family, and many, many lifelong family friends are buried in one or another of the Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese. The cemetery where my parents, brother, and both sets of grandparents are, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins ,is almost full. Knowing that, I purchased a plot for myself a few years back to make sure I would be buried near them when I died.

So given some cemeteries are almost full, and no new sales will offset costs, and given that many people are being cremated these days, and many baptized are fallen away and do not care anymore where they are buried, and many young people will never even want to be buried in a Catholic cemetery, where will the money come from to maintain these cemeteries in perpetuity as promised?

I braced myself for the closing of much loved churches and the sale of the land. But I never expected these....these...these...people... would pillage the funds set aside to take care of the final resting place of the dearly departed to cover the costs of their perverse practices, no less; to pay for their own grave and mortal sins.

Here's the link to the news story: https://chicago.suntimes.com/news/chicago-archdiocese-using-cemetery-funds-pay-priest-sex-abuse-costs/

God bless.

I just had another thought on the Chik-Fil-A matter (fyi, the Texas AG is opening an investigation and has requested the US Transportation department to do the same)

It must be awfully tedious to eat out if you are a leftist; checking up on the sellers of every scrap of food you buy, making certain that every bite and nibble that passes your sacred lips comes from a thoroughly righteous source. Anonymous 2, are you policing the faculty dining room for any "indiscretions?"

TJM, I’m going to say this as carefully as I can:
If your goal here is to convert minds and hearts, then persistently using phrases/characterizations like “braindead bigots and morons” etc. won’t get you there. Venting spleens never has nor ever will lead anyone to heaven (including myself who often has to confess this behavior!). If such is NOT your purpose, then have at it, but be prepared to confess...it is Lent after all.

Dan said...

TJM uses phrases like "brain dead bigots and morons" because he always strives to be as accurate as possible.

TJM said...

People who talk about Lent but vote for the Abortion Party. Sad, deluded

Dan, yes. I learned how to speak that way when I was a Democrat, long, long ago. You know, the Party of BushHitler, McChimpy!

Anonymous said...

TJM, I’m not THAT Anon. Not that it is relevant to my comment to you, but I voted Republican this past election. I did try to speak carefully to you, without intending snark, arrogance, or rude name-calling, but I do understand how that kind of confronting can be interpreted...
And, for what it’s worth, I would and have said the same sort of thing to MJK et al in the past, most recently about a week ago. We could all benefit from the following the model of rcg and Bee, among other good examples in commenting here over the years.
And, yes, it is Lent. I care about the souls who travel through this blog,

I scarcely know, or care, who Jussie Smollet is.

I do not eat in the Faculty Lounge and I like the food at Chick-Fil-A.

Please heed Anonymous. You frequently get hold of the wrong end of the stick. I can understand and empathize with your anger and frustration at the Democratic Party because I share it to some extent. But I am also frustrated by the Republican Party. I am a member of neither Party and continue to hope for a politics of virtue that transcends self-interest and political expediency and that values and honors honesty and integrity.

And I do not object to your being a Trump supporter per se. I know many Trump supporters and Republicans who are good and lovely people. But then I know many Democrats also of whom the same can be said.

Anonymous,

I apologize. The way you said it, I thought I was dealing with K's political, usual non-Catholic cant.

Bee is wonderful in how she expresses herself. Orthodox, firm, but kind. I should be more like her. I have a lot of stored up anger because I grew up loving the Church and the present papacy brings back so many bad memories. But tonight I was at my little lake church in Indiana and I now know I have every reason to hope that the present nightmare is coming to an end. The young pastor was orthodox, a delight, and his ars celebrandi refreshing.

Please pray for me, and I will pray for you.

ps: maybe you can send up a smoke signal or say I am not that one!

Smoke signal up—
Thanks, TJM, for that response and the offer of prayers up—much needed! And I’m very glad you had an extra-ordinary liturgical experience today...I’m envious. We have very little here locally.
I certainly do share your negative feelings about the course our Church and the current papacy have taken. And don’t get me started on the “The present crisis” (as Fr. Z calls it); or, worse, the present day socializing of government, medicine, politics and our country. But I do try to keep in mind that how I chose to express my anger and disgust can leave me jaded and hopeless, which is exactly where the evil one wants us. Instead I do try to pray more, but fail miserably at times.

BTW, off topic I know, but a plug nonetheless: I urge everyone here to see “Unplanned”, released yesterday. It didn’t deserve the R rating—that was a classic liberal agenda move, driven by the liberal media and Hollywood. Very important movie and well-done. “Gosnell” was good, “Unplanned” is great.
I hope my daughter will allow me to take my 14 and 15 y.o. Granddaughters, despite the rating, or better yet, she will take them.

TJM said...

Anonymous,

Yes, I plan to see "Unplanned." I note that all of the fake news cites: cBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, refuse to acknowledge the existence of this movie. I bet they would promote a movie entitled "Abortions are Fun!, Everyone Should Have One." This action just confirms they are evil. I never watch them any more and I have unplugged myself from the tv package and just stream what I want to see. Given what I see of the viewing habits of young folks, I think their days are numbered anyway.

TJM:

I haven’t done an exhaustive or extensive search but when I used the search term “Movie Unplanned [name of network]” there were no results for CBS, CNN, NBC, or MSNBC. However, there were results for ABC. This is an extract from the ABC news article on the movie:

“‘I’m being honest because if we aren’t honest about who we are and the flaws that we have, then there is really no credibility to the story that we are sharing,’ Johnson told ABC News in an interview about the new film, which premieres in theaters nationwide on Friday.

‘It was important that we also extend that in to the film, showing that there is right and wrong, good and bad on both sides of this fence - on both sides of the debate. In the end, dialogue, conversation, compassion – that’s truly what wins people over.” . . .

“Johnson said that she believes that one day we will see abortion become unthinkable in society. ‘I don’t think it’s going to be this big legislative victory that comes necessarily. I think it’s going to be through storytelling – through testimonies. It’s going to be from women and men who have suffered after abortions, it’s going to be from those of us who have worked in clinics, who have a story to tell.’ Johnson said.

Johnson shares in what she believes changes hearts and minds on this issue.

‘As a person of faith, we are given an opportunity every single day to wake up with the gift of redemption and to me, redemption means newness. You have an opportunity to live in a new relationship with Christ, to live with a new mended heart in Christ. That’s what he wants out of us. Not to live in our past, in a place where we can’t change. But to live right here, in the NOW, in the present with him and to see the present as the gift that it truly is. We all got stuff.’

The new movie is based on Johnson’s 2011 book of the same name."

Anonymous 2,

Are you curious why CBS, CNN, NBC, or MSNBC posted nothing? Also, have you EVER seen a story in the New York Times or Washington Post describing the downside to an abortion (other than sometimes women do die from it)?

TJM:

I hope you didn’t get hold of the wrong end of the stick again. I was not challenging your comment about those media outlets but seeking a full accounting of the facts and the truth of the matter, as I believe is our duty. My research confirmed rather than negated your point about the silence of most of the mainstream media outlets you mentioned.

As to the NYT and WAPO I have not researched the former (paywall etc.) but the latter has the following review of Unplanned. Having read it now, I can certainly understand why it is rated R (apparently due the graphic violence—I have always thought that our acceptance of abortion has as much to do with our acceptance of violence as it does with our acceptance of illicit sex):
