A new home!
Stunningly beautiful vestments for Christmas and Epiphany. Bishop Guido Marini’s Epiphany Mass on January 6, 2022! If only he could have convinced Pope Francis into this liturgical look and ethos…
FOUR sleeve cuffs seems a bit excessive...
Stunning vestments and it looks like the Benedictine arrangement is now in place! Kudos to Bishop Marini!
It appears that he is wearing a white shirt with cuffs, a cassock and a lace-trimmed episcopal alb. I don't think any of these could be discarded. No pontifical dalmatic, but at least he doesn't wear the pectoral cross over the chasuble. It does show that modern vestments don't have to be minimalist.
It may be an optical illusion, but the altar appears as very low or Bishop Marini very tall!
I've seen these lace-trimmed/lined albs before. Seems to be more specific to the Italians. As for short/tall, probably an illusion due to perspective.
The altar does seem very low: it must have originally been a few inches higher, on the step at the back of the sanctuary, before the modern slate reredos was added:https://www.madonnadellaguardiatortona.it/wordpress/wp-content/gallery/2021_dic_25_natale_mons-marini_mdg/2021_dic_25_NATALE_mons.-marini_mdg_-3.JPGI’d hoped to find a “before” picture, but no luck so far.
