As a priest, I am committed to the seal of Confession. I am prepared to hear the most lurid details of people’s sinful and sometimes corrupt lives.
I like how Father Raymond J. de Souza writes and often his commentaries are right on. And yes his commentary of Gov. Andrew Cuomo is right on, but it should not be written by a Catholic priest whose primary ministry is to hear confessions and reconcile sinners to God, not be a tabloid broadcasting the sins of a Catholic who might need to go to the same priest for confession.
Has Father de Souza jumped the shark on this one? Do you want to read your priest’s commentary on other Catholics and their peccadilloes? Would you feel you could be next in the line of commentary?
