I have always enjoyed the episodes of old TV shows on which celebrities played themselves.
Perhaps the funniest such episode was William Holden's appearance on I Love Lucy...or Sammy Davis Jr's appearance on All in the Family.
When the Brooklyn Dodgers moved to Los Angeles, several Dodger players appeared on the old shows. Don Drysdale on Leave it to Beaver. Wes Parker on The Brady Bunch. Roy Campanella on Lassie. Leo Durocher on The Munsters.
Joe Namath appeared on the Brady Bunch. Elroy "Crazy Legs" Hirsch (Los Angeles Rams) appeared on The Munsters.
Archie Moore (The Old Mongoose), the only boxer who had fought Rocky Marciano and Muhammad Ali, appeared on Family Affair.
Lamar Lundy, a very tall defensive lineman for the Los Angeles Rams, played a Cyclops on Lost in Space.
Great shows.
But Clint Eastwood's appearance on Mr. Ed is difficult to beat.
Clint’s no hero. Pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, pro-pot, anti-war, pro-gun control, six or seven kids by six or seven different women, most of whom he was never married to. Conservatives can do better.
