HIS HOLINESS, BISHOP OF ROME EMERITUS, LOOKS GOOD AND I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHAT HIS HOLINESS IS THINKING AND WHAT THESE TWO DISCUSS

There's a certain tragedy in all of this, but the Holy Spirit is ultimately in charge! Please note that you can't see through this pope's cassock to the kind of pants below! And why does Abp. Gänswein remind me of Richard Chamberlain in the "Thornbirds?" Hopefully it is just the similar look! :)

God bless Pope Benedict in his retirement. Hopefully he is still writing and we will be able to see it someday, even if posthumously. As an aside, I kind of like the simple cassock and pectoral cross look that His Holiness and Abp Ganswein are wearing. Perhaps Pope Francis could implement this for the rest of the Church, I've never really liked the cape and piping but that's just me.

I wish he could change Pope Francis' mind on ad orientem.

Luke,

The "cape," called a mozzetta, is a sign of jurisdiction.

This is why Francis' rejection of it, on any occasion, is deeply troubling.
