THE PRIESTHOOD IS LARGE; IT IS TREMENDOUS. I WAS ALWAYS TOO SMALL FOR IT—HENRY FONDA, THE FUGITIVE, 1947

This is a great “Catholic” movie about the priesthood, anti-clericalism and anti-Catholicism in Mexico.

Henry Fonda superbly plays the role of the “Fugitive Priest” an RKO/Warner Brother’s film.

The entire movie is worth watching, but this is the last part of that movie with the powerful scene with “Father” Fonda in dialogue with an atheist who is about to kill him in a firing squad. It is this scene with the priest’s powerful quote I highlight in the title!

John Ford’s black and white cinema photography is absolutely stunning.

Be sure to watch this clip of the final scenes. The ending is all Hollywood and powerful:

I remember this movie - those were the days when the Catholic Church was respected!

Those were the days when Hollywood didn’t hate God. Now they are run by Satan and his demons as sodomites and sexual predators.

I don’t see how God puts up with for so long, but I know he has a plan and I think this country is at the beginning of a great awakening as the evil is no longer hiding its in our face and proud.

We must save this nation as it’s the shining city on the hill as President Reagan once noted. Where are to run and hide, but to our Mother and Our Lord.
