It is simply a continuation of the French holy season of Mardi Gras, the Irish simply use their own traditional date, and the Diocese of Savannah is to be commended for meeting the cultural needs of all the recent immigrants from Ireland, so that they feel welcomed and a vital part of the Savannah Catholic scene.
