A great silence reigned in St. Peter's Square on Wednesday after Pope Francis interrupted the General Audience for a few minutes to take a phone call.

“Santita, grave news!!! It seems the 5 am Tuesday traditional Mass in Saint Pancras, Springfield, North Dakota, has been announced in the parish bulletin!”

- Maledettissimi indietristi!!!! I just hate those Yanquis!!!

Perhaps the phone call was from the Greek Archdiocese...asking for advice in regard to the following:

-- FEMALE ALTAR SERVERS AND READERS PROPOSED IN GREEK ARCHDIOCESE

"Archbishop Elpidophoros of the Patriarchate of Constantinople’s Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America hopes to implement the jurisdiction-wide practice of girls serving in the altar and being tonsured as readers."

"The resolutions, which are intended to be passed on to the Archdiocesan Clergy-Laity Congress, read:

"Resolved: That the Metropolis of New Jersey Local Assembly convey to the Archdiocesan Clergy-Laity Congress the request to develop the role of women and girls in the life of the contemporary Orthodox Church in America.

"Examples of this would be: involving girls in processions and other liturgical service during liturgy, serving as acolytes, and reading of the Epistle; tonsuring of female students as readers and blessing them to serve in the altar at HCHC, presenting educational programs and symposia at Metropolis Local Assemblies and Archdiocese Clergy-Laity Congresses, and reviving the female diaconate."

Pax.

Mark,

Perhaps you could contact your Bishop and offer your services to train at least two dozen Holy Serviettes for your diocese?

Sophia here: Off topic but....
The Novena to the Holy Spirit begins tomorrow, Friday May 19th. It is the oldest in the Church. It was instituted by Christ Himself, when, just before ascending into Heaven, he instructed the Apostles to remain in Jerusalem to await the coming of the Holy Spirit.
I like the one below because everyone can make the time to say it! Offer it on behalf of Holy Mother Church, that the effects of the Holy Spirit will become more powerfully manifest in her -once again!
