THE NON SCHISMATIC FSSPX CONSECRATION OF IMMACULATA CHURCH IN SAINT MARY, KANSAS

Congratulations on a magnificent edifice for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the other sacraments and prayer and liturgy. The irregular bishop from France, gives a very good sermon, powerful actually!

Bp Fellay is an example to follow for Catholic Bishops everywhere, éven in Rome.

I agree with you TJM that this is the future.

What scares me is what we're going to have to pass through to get there.

There is a lot of confusion in the St Mary's - Topeka KS area about whether SSPX is schismatic or not ? Not even sure I understand the word. Google links use terms like valid but illicit. Can someone provide a link to a definitive answer?

The word “schism” always refers to a group of Catholics breaking with the pope in an act if defiance or disobedience. You need a cleric, either a bishop or priest to lead it. However, and this is important, only the pope can declare such a group to be in schism with him.
No pope has declared this as it concerns the SSPS. However, their situation is highly irregular. Their bishops are irregularly or illicitly consecrated. But they have the fullness of Holy Orders and all the sacraments are fully valid.

Pope Benedict lifted the excommunication against their illicit ordained bishops. Pope Francis has allowed regular Catholics to go to Confession to SSPX priests and their marriages are canonically valid.

Part of being irregular is that they are not in union with the local bishop in which their parishes are. In this regard, they are more like an Ordinariate, but unrecognized as such. They could be made fullly regular if the pope allowed them to be an Ordinariate. However, there are some issues concerning Vatican II that they must give assent as as required by Pope Benedict. They have yet to do this.

Father McDonald, that did not stop Cardinals Burke, and then-Archbishop Müller, from having declared that the Society of Saint Pius X is schismatic:

Cardinal Burke: "[T]he fact of the matter is that the Priestly Society of St. Pius X is in schism since the late Abp. Marcel Lefebvre ordained four bishops without the mandate of the Roman Pontiff. And so it is not legitimate to attend Mass or to receive the sacraments in a church that's under the direction of the Priestly Society of St. Pius X."

Cardinal Burke, May 10, 2021 A.D:

Cardinal Raymond Burke, speaking to @mattfradd in the Pints With Aquinas podcast, says that the Society of Saint Pius X at the present moment “are not part of the One Roman Catholic Church throughout the world” and have adopted a “schismatic position”.

Then-Archbishop Müller in regard to the SSPX:

"The canonical excommunication of the bishops for their illegal ordinations was revoked, but a de facto sacramental excommunication remains for their schism; they put themselves out of communion with the Church.

"After that we are not closing the door and never will, but we are inviting them to be reconciled. But they too must change their attitude, accept the conditions of the Catholic Church, and the Supreme Pontiff as the definitive criterion for membership."

Pax.
