All the money, time and effort to promote a Eucharistic Revival is in vain as far as my most humble opinion sees it.
There’s much that must be done which the bishops aren’t doing. But there is one thing they could do that would impact reverence for the Mass and the Most Holy Eucharist and that is mandating the restoration of altar railings, kneeling for Holy Communion and receiving on the tongue.
Just doing that will be catechetical for those who watch a reverent reception of Holy Communion to make them think that it is more than a talisman they are getting but they are receiving the Divine Person of the Most Holy Trinity, Jesus Christ, Son of God and Son of Mary. They would then proceed to receive in the most reverent way possible.

They either don’t care or they are very stupid, or both. Nothing explains their obsession with sticking with failure.
You are spot on, Father. The behavior of NO congregations at Mass, in my experince, is totally casual. There are pianoplayers at the edge of the sanctuary, or shlocky guitar music, protestant hymns galore. We see sloppy vestments, and yes, communicants sharing the news with eachother while processing in the communion lines. This goes on uncorrected by clergy Sunday after Sunday. The result is that the worst offendersamong us are confirmed in their abberant bahavior and others who still care just suffer because we must not be judgemental. So, instead, some go off to a TLM Sunday after Sunday driving 100 miles or sometimes even more.
What to do? Pastors must bite the bullet and have a heart to heart discussion with their congregations. Remind them what the Mass is about. Assuming that they still care, that is. Why? Because the Mass is the bloodless representation of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, it must never be apprehanded as a casual picnic in the woods. But unfortunately this is where we are nearly 60 years after V-2.
If the Mass is the Source and Summit of Christian worship, and the Eucharistic banquette its most significant part, yet, we approach the altar lacking in reverence (lacking the wedding garment) we are liable to be ejected by the Lord as undeserving guests. That is what Jesus taught his disciples would happen.
"So you make a 'little altar' for the host with your hands and the priest will place the host there. Then you pick up the host and put it in your mouth. THIS IS HOW WE WILL BE RECEIVING COMMUNION FROM NOW ON."
-words of liberal nun not wearing a habit arrogating herself to the pulpit during Sunday Mass in 1977.
Pure bullsh_t.
At my parish, and several nearby parishes, the Holy Communion Rite is performed in reverent fashion.
The majority receive while standing (and in the hand)...several on the tongue while standing...some on the tongue, kneeling.
Via the Synodal listening sessions, diocese upon diocese reported strong belief in the Real Presence among the overwhelming amount of participants.
I am confident that the Eucharistic Revival will prove successful.

I believe that the following will contribute greatly to our bishops' Eucharistic Revival plan:

-- An Important Papal Contribution to the Eucharistic Revival, The Anchor, July 8, 2022
Fr. Roger J. Landry
Editorial
The Anchor
(Fall River, Massachusetts)
Excerpts:
"Ten days after the Church in the United States began the three-year national Eucharistic Revival on June 19, Pope Francis gave a major contribution to it, in his apostolic letter Desiderio Desideravi, dedicated to the liturgical formation of the people of God.
"One of the most important parts of the Revival is to help make the celebration of the Mass the practical source, summit, root and center of the life of the Church and of individual believers..."
"...That’s what Pope Francis tried to do in his June 29 letter, giving “some prompts or cues for reflections that can aid in the contemplation of the beauty and truth of Christian celebration,” and inviting us “to rediscover, to safeguard, and to live [its] truth and power."
"Fifteen years ago, in his apostolic exhortation Sacramentum Caritatis, Pope Benedict called for a “mystagogical catechesis” and “education in Eucharistic faith” so that the faithful could “be helped to make their interior dispositions correspond to their gestures and words,” and so that the hopes of the liturgical reform of the Second Vatican Council toward the faithful’s full, active, conscious, fruitful and devout participation in the Mass could be fulfilled."
"What Pope Benedict called for — and in a sense had previously tried to sketch in his pre-papal book The Spirit of the Liturgy — Pope Francis has in fact provided in this eloquent, down-to-earth and beautiful letter."

Jerome M,
Exactly!
Amen 🙏 !!!
Francis "eloquent...and beautiful words"...and so on and so forth.
Marky....you crack me up ... laughing out Loud...
Pleeeese never stop contributing to Fr McDonald's admirable blog Southern Orders!
Without any intended ambiguity and no intentional irony - Marky, this blog just wouldn't be the same without you!
Say hello to Texas for me, okay?
I may be passing through (or should I say over?) Texas about this time tomorrow.
P.
Paul said..."Francis "eloquent...and beautiful words"...and so on and so forth. Marky....you crack me up ... laughing out Loud..."
Then Father Landry has made you laugh out loud as the above quotation is his. It is he who heaped praise upon Pope Francis.
Father Landry is a National Eucharistic Preacher for the USCCB’s National Eucharistic Revival.

Paul said..."I may be passing through (or should I say over?) Texas about this time tomorrow."
Paul...prayers for your safe journey.
"O Holy Mother of God, our Lady of Loreto, patroness of aviation and air travelers. We come to thank you for all the graces and benefits bestowed on us. Full of trust in your powerful intercession, we fly to you, begging for your maternal solicitude and care.
"Listen to our supplications for the success of this flight and all the flights we may undertake.
"Do bless the pilots, the flight attendants, the technicians, and all of us, passengers, placed under their care.
"As we piously believe that your house in Nazareth was borne by angels to Loreto, so may you also bring us all safely to our destination here on earth and to our final home in heaven. Amen."

Paul,
Mark Thomas is a leftist and should really consider living in one of his spiritual homes: California, Illinois, New York, so he can receive all of the "benefits" of leftism.
He obviously cannot connect the dots: belief in the Real Presence has been cratering since we began receiving Holy Communion Standinding and in the Paw.
Deo gratias:
Bishop Burns yesterday, joined by Auxiliary Bishop Greg Kelly and their brother priests of the Catholic Diocese of Dallas, celebrated the ordination of eight men to the priesthood.
The Mass was held at Saint Jude Catholic Church in Allen, Texas, the city in which the recent shooting had occurred at Allen Outlets Mall.
Congratulations to newly ordained Father Kevin Kolker, Father Juan Estaban Rojas, Father César García, Father Alex Fry, Father Mark Nguyễn, Father Dennis O’Donnell, Father Miguel Sotelo, and Father Eugene Udemba.
Here is a photograph of God-pleasing Bishop Burns with eight of God's newest holy priests:

Thx for your prayers.
P.
Paul, any time, brother.
Thank you.

Mark Thomas,
When are you going to apologize to Father McDonald for lying about his statement? Man up!
TJM - When are you going to apologoize to me and others here for lying about my position on abortion and abortion as health care?
Fr K,
You need to apologize for voting for known evil - there is not a single thing Dems do to help the lives of ordinary Americans. Their policies actively harm them. In contrast, Dem politicians grow wealthy off of government: Clintons, Obamas, Bidens, Pelosis. Harry Truman would call them crooks. You’re contumaciously unhinged from reality.
Almost every President from Washington to Eisenhower would regard them not only as crooks (Biden and Clinton especially, much less so Obama) but as a disgrace to a once rightly proud nation they helped create and form.
TJM - Since by your vote you show that you support and encourage sexual harassment and assault against women, tell us what "type" you prefer to prey upon. Tall? Married? White? Asian...?
Enjoy your dose of the "reality" you have conjured.
