I DON’T THINK IT IS WRONG TO ASK POPE FRANCIS WHAT KIND OF VETTING TAKES PLACE IN THE NAMING OF NEW CARDINALS

And someone, please clarify for me, it seems that even those selected as cardinals did not know they were until the pope announced their names? That is truly troubling too.

After 2000 years of existence, you’d think the Church would know what she is doing…..

Pope accepts Bishop Van Looy's request not to be made a cardinal

Pope Francis accepts Belgian Bishop Lucas Van Looy’s request not to be made a cardinal after the announcement provoked criticism that he did not always react decisively enough against abuse allegations.

Did not react decisively enough? LOL - then most of the hierarchy would be denied a red hat. Many of the same people who claim this LOVE LGBTQ

As far as my knowledge: yes, the cardinals does not know if he is appointed a cardinal until the pope announces it. This is contrary to the appointment of bishops, in which the priest to be appointed bishop is usually notified first before announced by the Holy See.
