This bishop seems like a nice man. I'm sure he might be even mildly interested in our opinions.
However, he has to be smart enough to know that this entire charade he is playing a part in is a pointless exercise to make a bunch of foolish people feel "included" in decisions that have already been made. But I guess, since he has to play his boss's game, he will.
What a waste of time, money and effort.
I wish some bishops would hold sessions in which the laity have to listen to him!
Of course as my headline states, these sessions were planned before he heard about the worldwide listening. Maybe the pope got it from him.
Good bishops, who care about spreading the gospel as taught by Jesus and passed to us by Sacred Tradition, will hear their people and when the sessions are completed he will write back or visit in person and tell what he heard everywhere, also tell what the people got right and what they got wrong.
Then he should inform the HF about his experiences. O corse, the Pope cannot read all the thousands of letters that will be arriving. I would suggest to the HF to only consider in detail those missives which come from bishops who have the largest group of seminarians in their countries. That should weed out the fawning clericalists and most if not all the German mail.
However, I think Jerome kind of nailed what this bureaucratic exercise is all about.
It is gratifying to see things spelled correctly for a change. -:) Also, the poster advertising the event contains two of my favourite colours—red and blue.
