A rose by any other name....

So, roses are not pink, but are....rose?

Besides....they should call it mauve and skip all the confusion.

Just dropping in here.I have a question. Is that a pink chausable you are wearing?

It also enters my mind that Mauve Sunday rolls off the tongue smoother than Gaudete Sunday, and has a certain 1965-1975 groovy ring to it.

The antependium is a step in the right direction, but needs to be wider so that the whole of the front of the altar is covered. I would hope that the present see-through structure is as temporary as it looks.

It's difficult to tell from a photograph, but tha chasuble does appear to be mauve or 'palatinate purple' (the colours of Durham University) rather than rose.

The candlesticks designed to stand on the floor (a widespread practice in North America but not unknown elsewhere) look out of proportion when placed on the altar. It should not be difficult nor prohibitively expensive to source some shorter ones.

Nice vestment. Certainly not the pepto bismol pink offered by many parishes.

The antependium is not my favorite but, I don't generally care for most Roman ones. More my problem than anyone else's.

The candlesticks. True, slightly out of proportion, but they nonetheless add a richness and grandeur to the altar of a debt-strapped parish. Use what you have to make it as beautiful as possible.

Just don't call it pink!

'Pink' (colour adjective): Latin 'roseus', French 'rose', German 'rosa'. Also named after a flower, in this case the pink of the genus Dianthus. Nothing to do with homosexuality, so what's wrong with it?
