Question: does Germany really need that many diocese and bishops? Couldn’t the pope collapse them all into one diocese and denote Germany as a “missionary” country? I suspect without government financial support that is what would happen to the German Church. By the 100th anniversary of Vatican II most churches there will be defunct and repurposed
