ABOUT 1% OF THE USA’S 67 MILLION CATHOLICS PARTICIPATED IN THE SYNODAL PROCESS—WHAT DOES SUCH A SCANDALOUSLY LOW PERCENTAGE TELL THE POPE AND BISHOPS IN UNION WITH HIM ABOUT THE SYNODAL PROCESS, THE SENSUUM FIDELIS?

On the bright side, a significant number of the 1% of those who participated decry the banning of the 1962 Roman Missal as being cruel and completely unnecessary especially as they see what the pope is allowing in Germany including cardinals and bishops going off the rails with the mentality of the anti-Christ.

“Divisiveness and polarization in the church was a concern expressed in multiple regional reports. The Region 9 report covering four Midwestern states said division over the celebration of the Eucharist is disconcerting, particularly when it comes to the pre-Vatican II Mass.

"The limited access to the 1962 missal was lamented; many felt that the difference over how to celebrate the liturgy 'sometimes reach the level of animosity. People on each side of the issue reported feeling judged by those who differ from them,'" the national synthesis report said quoting the Region 9 submission.”

US synod report finds participants share common hopes, lingering pain

With a few exceptions, do you honestly think they even CARE?

It has been my personal experience that division between the adherents of the pre-Vatican II Mass and the current version is the result of ignorance being exploited by lies. I have encountered almost no hostility even among those who have expressed wildly inaccurate opinions. Generally a calm response to their questions or statements is met with the same. Only among clergy do we seem to encounter fear and hysteria.

"Feeling judged" is the least of our problems. I "feel judged" every time I step in to the Communion line because anyone who knows me knows that I am a sinful person. Maybe they are right to judge me. Maybe nobody is even judging me at all. "Feelings" are hardly worthy of our concern in the current crisis.

"Unity" has turned in to a false God, invoked by the partisans of error to justify their cruelty towards Traditional Catholics.

"Do not think that I came to send peace upon earth: I came not to send peace, but the sword. For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law."

I even think Father K would agree the restrictions on the TLM are illiberal and wrongheaded. This papacy will go down in history as one of the worst. The Church was healing under Pope Benedict, now its hemorraghing again.

Father McDonald,

We now have schism. See this paragraph from Rorate:

"Now, de Kesel has arrived decisively at what he was named to do: the bishops of Belgium are to visit Rome in the upcoming days for their Ad Limina visit and, just in time, de Kesel led the Flemish bishops in approving a special "liturgy" with prayers for the "blessing" of homosexual unions."

The article calls these bishops what they are. It is not pretty.

The low participation rate tells them that we know that our input is meaningless. The end result will be whatever the tin pot dictator in Rome wants.

Let us say that each diocese/parish promoted in excellent fashion the listening phase of the Synodal process...that the process in question was well advertised.

Speaking generally, that tells the Pope and bishops in union with him that 99 percent of America's 67 million Catholics (does that include children?) did not care to have participated in said process. That is that.

Should "X" amount of Catholics fail to participate in the Synodal process, then...oh, well...that is on said folks. That is their decision. So be it.

The Synod's validity/usefulness is not based upon a popularity contest.

One bishop after another has supported the Synod/process.

One positive result after another.

I have just read, for example, the following from the San Francisco Archdiocese — taught, governed, and sanctified by Archbishop Cordileone:

Disciple Maker Index Survey (DMI) Insights: Where participants find joy:

-- 81% agree or strongly agree that the Eucharist is the Body and Blood of Christ.

-- 83% agree or strongly agree that Scripture is the Word of God.

-- 81% agree or strongly agree that they would recommend their parish to a friend.

-- 83% attend Mass at least weekly.

I participated in my parish synod as it was called. In my opinion this is a whole lot of bunk. More social justice, more LGBTQ+, more women, more lay decision making etc? This was orchestrated from the beginning with an intended outcome. What we desperately need today is clear preaching of the truth...no matter how hard or bad it hurts. We need church leaders who are unafraid to talk about the dangers of sin. We need Catholic colleges to step up and stand for truth in message and deed. We need liturgical diversity as was the option under Benedict. We need a Pope unafraid to throw the red flag at Flemish and German Bishops BEFORE the horse leaves the barn. Stop trying to thread the needle and stop equivocating.

Mark Thomas,

LOL - 83% of 1% is a total and utter joke. Archbishop Cordileone is ignoring your Golden Calf's cruel document on the Latin Mass.

Another positive report in regard to the Synod:

I have just read Atlanta Archbishop Gregory J. Hartmayer's positive assessment of his Archdiocese's report to the Synod.

The report stated that "it is hard to limit the list of joys during the diocesan phase of consultation."

The report's authors said that “valuable moments of encounter” between believers had overcome initial skepticism.

Atlanta Archbishop Gregory J. Hartmayer insisted that the listening sessions were invaluable.

"This synod was the perfect opportunity for me. I was so happy to be able to go to the parishes for the regional sessions."

"I said at one of those sessions that the comments made have impacted me — they have changed me — and I meant it. I cannot be a good shepherd if I don’t know what is going on in the lives of the people in this archdiocese."

"The report tells us a lot about the survey and the parish sessions, but I also value the comments I heard with my own ears at the regional sessions."

Archbishop Hartmayer added: "We heard a lot about the Eucharist and how much people love the Eucharistic Congress. This tells me that the eucharistic revival is coming at just the right time in our church."

And Mark Thomas blissfully ignores facts and prefers his Alice in Wonderland World.

We NEVER should have had a failure of belief in the Real Presence, a post Vatican Disaster II phenomenon. The Novus Ordo had a substantial role in that failure. Valid, but ineffective

The report issued by the Diocese of Phoenix, guided by then-Bishop Olmstead, cited much positive feedback in regard to the importance of the Mass in the lives of the participants.

I though it interesting that the Diocese of Phoenix declared:

"Communal prayers were cited as a source of strength, fellowship, and reconciliation, in particular through the Rosary, prayer groups, General Intercessions during Mass, processions, consecration prayers (to Jesus, Mary and Joseph), the Liturgy of the Hours, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, novenas and litanies."

======================================================================

As I have read the comments from one bishop/report after another — bishops labeled "conservative," "liberal," and "moderate" — said bishops/reports have expressed great enthusiasm, and attached great importance, to the Synod/process.

They have insisted that the holy Ghost has guided the listening sessions in question.

Based upon the comments from bishops/reports that I have read, Pope Francis' Holy Ghost-inspired Synod/Synodal process is on the path to holy success.

Atlanta's Archbishop Gregory J. Hartmayer said in regard to the listening sessions:

"We heard a lot about the Eucharist and how much people love the Eucharistic Congress. This tells me that the eucharistic revival is coming at just the right time in our church."

The above comment bodes well for the Church.

The listening sessions have revealed that among its participants, there exists great love for the Holy Mass...strong belief in the Real Presence.

As Archbishop Hartmayer noted, the participants in question have expressed support for the Eucharist Congress.

Bishops have noted also that said participants have offered valuable comments as to how to enhance the liturgical experience at parishes.

In regard to all of the above, I agree with Archbishop Hartmayer in that we are poised for a great Eucharistic revival within the Church.

Mark Thomas,

It is a free Country, so if you like to continue to publish your comments, unhinged from reality, be my guest. The sentient amongst us know they are non sequiturs and meaningless for those who take the Catholic Faith seriously. Seek help
