The Traditional Latin Mass community of Savannah has transitioned from the Cathedral Basilica to Sacred Heart Church about six blocks away. I was the celebrant for the 14th Sunday after Pentecost. This church building, neo-Gothic/Romanesque, is ideal for this form of the Mass. The last photo is what the church looked like decades ago. After Vatican II, as with many historic church buildings, altars and art were needlessly removed in a new kind of iconoclasm. Nonetheless, the church maintains a certain traditional dignity.

So here is the question: Why did Bishop Parkes banish the TLM from the Cathedral? Did he have too? Was he told to by Francis? Why move it to Sacred Heart? Could he have complied with Francis and retained the TLM at the Cathedral? If yes, why banish it? Inquiring minds want to know.
Noble simplicity at its finest!
At this moment in a papal magisterium, it would be foolish for a bishop to poke the pope in the eye. The young pastor at Sacred Heart celebrates the TLM and is quite solicitous towards this community in a pastoral way which was not the case at the cathedral. They will be better off at Sacred Heart.
