 Yes, give me the noble simplicity of Baroque any day to Rococo:

The puritanical and restrained Baroque:

The gaudy Rococo:



I remember studying various styles of churches in Europe and had forgotten the noble simplicity of baroque compared to rococo.

I like things that are well done even if I don’t personally care to own it. I do prefer the baroque but would happily attend Mass in a Rococo style church. I even prefer the sort of Craftsman style of St Anne’s parish for my permanent home, but would go out of my way to visit and worship at the cathedral in Savannah. There is something about the dust in elaborate churches that makes be glad someone else has to clean it.
