I have already posted Cardinal Burke’s interview with Raymond Arroyo which is a must see and take to heart requirement for the pope and every bishop to view.
Now I copy and past Catholic News Service’s article on Bishop Morlino’s way forward. His letter is embedded in the article itself:
Bishop Robert Morlino (Diocese of Madison, Wisconsin)
Bishop Morlino: ‘Homosexual Subculture’ a Source of Devastation in the Church
In an Aug. 18 pastoral letter, the bishop of Madison also called Catholics to join him in offering acts of reparation for the sins of sexual immorality among Catholic deacons, priests, and bishops.
Catholic News Agency
MADISON, Wis. — In response to the sexual abuse crises involving disgraced Archbishop Theodore McCarrick and the release of the Pennsylvania grand jury report, Bishop Robert Morlino of Madison, Wisconsin, has said that the Catholic Church must renew its conviction to identify and reject sin, and admit that a homosexual culture among some clerics has caused great harm in the Church.
The bishop also called Catholics to join him in offering acts of reparation for the sins of sexual immorality among Catholic deacons, priests and bishops.
“For too long we have diminished the reality of sin — we have refused to call a sin a sin — and we have excused sin in the name of a mistaken notion of mercy. In our efforts to be open to the world we have become all too willing to abandon the Way, the Truth and the Life. In order to avoid causing offense we offer to ourselves and to others niceties and human consolation,” wrote Bishop Robert Morlino in a pastoral letter released Aug. 18.
“There must be no room left, no refuge for sin — either within our own lives, or within the lives of our communities. To be a refuge for sinners (which we should be), the Church must be a place where sinners can turn to be reconciled. In this I speak of all sin,” he added.
Morlino said that he had been sickened by reading the stories of sexual abuse contained in a report on clerical sexual abuse released Aug. 14 by a Pennsylvania grand jury, and by allegations against former cardinal Theodore McCarrick, who has been accused of serially sexually abusing two teenage boys, and of sexually assaulting and coercing priests and seminarians for several decades.
“But my own sickness at the stories is quickly put into perspective when I recall the fact that many individuals have lived through them for years. For them, these are not stories, they are indeed realities. To them I turn and say, again, I am sorry for what you have suffered and what you continue to suffer in your mind and in your heart,” he wrote.
The bishop was particularly candid in his assessment of the cause of those problems: “In the specific situations at hand, we are talking about deviant sexual — almost exclusively homosexual — acts by clerics. We’re also talking about homosexual propositions and abuses against seminarians and young priests by powerful priests, bishops and cardinals. We are talking about acts and actions which are not only in violation of the sacred promises made by some, in short, sacrilege, but also are in violation of the natural moral law for all. To call it anything else would be deceitful and would only ignore the problem further.”
“There has been a great deal of effort to keep separate acts which fall under the category of now-culturally-acceptable acts of homosexuality from the publically-deplorable acts of pedophilia. That is to say, until recently the problems of the Church have been painted purely as problems of pedophilia — this despite clear evidence to the contrary,” he added.
“It is time to be honest that the problems are both and they are more. To fall into the trap of parsing problems according to what society might find acceptable or unacceptable is ignoring the fact that the Church has never held ANY of it to be acceptable — neither the abuse of children, nor any use of one’s sexuality outside of the marital relationship, nor the sin of sodomy, nor the entering of clerics into intimate sexual relationships at all, nor the abuse and coercion by those with authority,” he wrote.
Morlino said that McCarrick was guilty of abusing power “for the sake of homosexual gratification.”
“It is time to admit that there is a homosexual subculture within the hierarchy of the Catholic Church that is wreaking great devastation in the vineyard of the Lord. The Church’s teaching is clear that the homosexual inclination is not in itself sinful, but it is intrinsically disordered in a way that renders any man stably afflicted by it unfit to be a priest,” he added.
Morlino wrote to seminarians of his diocese that they should immediately notify him of any sexual abuse, coercion, or sexual immorality they might experience or witness in their seminaries.
“I will address it swiftly and vigorously. I will not stand for this in my diocese or anywhere I send men for formation,” he wrote, adding that he expects seminaries to address sexual immorality directly.
To the priests of Madison, the bishop explained his expectation that each one “live out your priesthood as a holy priest, a hard working priest, and a pure and happy priest — as Christ Himself is calling you to do. And by extension, live a chaste and celibate life so that you can completely give your life to Christ, the Church, and the people whom he has called you to serve. God will give you the graces to do so.”
He likewise called priests to notify him of abuse or sexual immorality they might become aware of.
Morlino also wrote to lay Catholics, asking them to bring forward any instance of clerical sexual abuse or immorality they might be aware of. The bishop promised to hold priests and seminarians accountable to chaste standards of behavior, and to call for reform in the Church.
The bishop asked lay Catholics to “assist in keeping us accountable to civil authorities, the faithful in the pews, and to God Almighty, not only to protect children and the youth from sexual predators in the Church, but our seminarians, university students, and all the faithful as well. I promise to put any victim and their sufferings before that of the personal and professional reputation of a priest, or any Church employee, guilty of abuse.”
The bishop concluded his letter with a call to holiness and prayer.
“More than anything else, we as a Church must cease our acceptance of sin and evil. We must cast out sin from our own lives and run toward holiness. We must refuse to be silent in the face of sin and evil in our families and communities and we must demand from our pastors — myself included — that they themselves are striving day in and day out for holiness. We must do this always with loving respect for individuals but with a clear understanding that true love can never exist without truth.”
“I ask you all to join me and the entire clergy of the Diocese of Madison in making public and private acts of reparation to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and to the Immaculate Heart of Mary for all the sins of sexual depravity committed by members of the clergy and episcopacy,” he wrote.
He added that he would be offering a public Mass of reparation in the diocese and explained that on Sept. 19, 21 and 22, the traditional “ember days” of the Church, he would be fasting “in reparation for the sins and outrages committed by members of the clergy and episcopacy and I invite all the faithful to do the same.”
He wrote, “Some sins, like some demons, can only be driven out by prayer and fasting.”

Those who design structures and devices test out what they have designed by constructing prototypes to ensure that what is designed can function as it should. If weak spots are found that do not hold up to stress during operation, then modification and reinforcement is done.
So it is with what God provides to us in our spiritual life. The reinforcement and modification done to a product by the designers and builders can be compared to the grace God provides to us. The means and principles which those who design stuctures and devices employ, can be likened to God's Holy laws, His revealed teachings, and what He has provided to the Church in her Sacraments and means of sanctification. If, in designing and constucting something, proper and correct principles and procedures are not followed, then catastrophic failure and great damage can occur. So it is with we who are members of the Church and those who govern her, if the spiritual principles God has given us are not followed.
It is by the means that God has provided to us that we overcome the stresses in the Mystical Body of Christ and in our own lives. It is God that has provided to us those things that are necessary and indispensable with which to confront and endure all adversities and trials, both in our in our own lives and in those afflictions which through the failings and transgressions of some of her members, affect our Holy Church.
Our faith is in God, not in men. It is not for us to rage against the Darkness, understandable as that is at times, but rather to bring the Light of Christ to the world.
"The Church’s teaching is clear that the homosexual inclination is not in itself sinful, but it is intrinsically disordered...." Of course this will have to be changed.
I had faith and spent hours each day in prayer, up to seeing how Francis and his disciples are doing everything they can to belittle and destroy the faith AND seeing how silently others stand by and let them.
STILL no one condemns the German bishops and Francis for not addressing the German bishops.
All I have left is bitterness and contempt.
This is a heiarchy that seeks to destroy men and women of faith and who have elevated faithless men to positions of power so that the "blander ingredients of the faith" will continue.
What exactly will be attractive about a Church that promotes almost the same things as Hollywood? Where children are taught to be afraid of friendly priests and all the nuns look like lesbians in pantsuits? Nothing!
I had faith. When I was a teen my entire family had decided the Catholic faith was a joke. I endured teasing from my own mother when I rode my bike across town to make it to mass and confession...
It took realizing that the shepherd's hold the faith in contempt, and knowing that IF there were any left that had any faith - they weren't going to do anything about it... that finally took mine.
I'm getting close to 60, so that's that. I suspect that NOTHING will change except for files will no longer be kept on complaints just to avoid bad publicity.
A little more ranting:
Dan's prophecy for the future Church:
1) more affirming language for homosexuality
2) the "real presence" will be found in the community of the "people of God" and Eucharistic adoration will be mocked as idolatry
3) won't need annulments anymore as divorce and remarriage will be no big thing
4) no more individual sacrament of reconciliation because no real sense of sin...
5) women priests, trans-priests, you name it.
Why will this happen? Well, because the Church is full of people who either don't know the faith, or with those like our own Mark Thomas, who are ready to accept anything that is proclaimed by shepherds who aren't bound by those pesky "disordered affections" for scripture or tradition.
I see it all too clearly.
George, so good to “see” you! And so good to hear your voice!
Everything in me wants to rant, rave and “...rage against the Darkness...”. So much harder to bring the light of Christ to the world. I’m getting too old to think I can offer much. But I most surely can fast and pray as the good Bishops Burke and Morlino have asked.
Cardinal Burke has rejected the notion that he's been "marginalized and mocked" by Pope Francis.
Cardinal Burke has made it clear that he and Pope Francis are at odds with each other. Cardinal Burke declared that his supposed adversarial relationship is a media "caricature."
Pope Francis also declared during an interview that he and Cardinal Burke are not enemies.
Cardinal Burke also declared that Pope Francis is not a liberal revolutionary. In regard to liberals, Cardinal Burke said that Pope Francis "is actually not in favor of their agenda. They use this kind of technique to make it seem like he is and that’s fundamentally dishonest."

Dan, Most of these Priests and Bishops do not believe that Jesus was who he said he was, nor do they believe in the bodily resurrection or eternal life with Christ in Heaven. They are the products of modern seminaries and divinity schools who have bought 19th century "de-mythologizing" hook, line, and sinker. I attended these seminaries and grad schools in the 60's/70's and have graduate degrees from two of them. For those of us who were believing Christians, it was a real shock to discover that the majority of out professors viewed the faith as a useful social ideology that encouraged people to do good works, become social workers or activist lawyers (many Divinity students, when they realized that nobody there believed in God, actually left and went to law school). You still see them, men and women in their 60's now, with ponytails and sloppy clothes advocating for the latest liberal cause or social fad. So, the Church becomes a social phenomenon, hopping on board whatever Leftist cause is the current feel-good movement. It has adopted the egalitarian mindset that anything goes as long as "you don't hurt anybody," and any character disorder or behavioral abomination is OK because Jesus said to "love everybody." The only real sin is to go against this ideology. To actually suggest that homosexuality, abortion, divorce, and sexual deviations of any kind are wrong or sinful is the new abomination. Unbelief is rampant in the Church (es), masquerading behind good works, talk about love and acceptance, and smiling sociopath Priests and preachers.
Dan, I obey the Church's teaching that God commands me to submit to Pope Francis' awesome authority to teach, govern, and sanctify me. Is that unacceptable to you?
The Church teaches that we are to submit with utter docility to Pope Francis' God-given authority over us. Utter docility.
Dan, is that unacceptable to you?
Pope Leo XIII, 1885 A.D:
"To the shepherds alone was given all power to teach, to judge, to direct; on the faithful was imposed the duty of following their teaching, of submitting with docility to their judgment, and of allowing themselves to be governed, corrected, and guided by them in the way of salvation.
"Thus, it is an absolute necessity for the simple faithful to submit in mind and heart to their own pastors, and for the latter to submit with them to the Head and Supreme Pastor."

Vatican I declared that the "gift of truth and never-failing faith was therefore divinely conferred on Peter and his successors in this see so that they might discharge their exalted office for the salvation of all, and so that the whole flock of Christ might be kept away by them from the poisonous food of error and be nourished with the sustenance of heavenly doctrine."

Encyclical, Inter Multiplices, Pleading for Unity of Spirit Pope Blessed Pius IX, 1853 A.D.

MT,
LOL - when are you going to answer why PF doesn't do something about the gay sex parties and drug parties at the Vantican. He would be using his "awesome" power to teach, preach, and sanctify.
Not good enough. I don't understand why everyone is afraid to name the people who enabled McCarrick: Paul Gregory Bootkoski was the Bishop of Metuchen when the settlements were paid out and John J. Myers was the Bishop of Newark. Why don't they get to live a "life of penance"? Especially Bishop Myers who was controversial during his time, failing to monitor a pedophile priest and building a lavish palace for his retirement home. Why isn't Bishop Myers being kicked out of his fancy house and forced to live in a one room flat? For that matter, why have those Bishops not spoken themselves?
How can anyone take calls for "change" and "accountability" seriously if no one is even able to state the obvious? Will the good Bishop of Madison feel uncomfortable if he calls our Myers or Bootkoski or Wuerl then has to sit next to them a the next USCCB meeting?
Hey Mark Thomas, which pope are we supposed to give submission of intellect and will to?
Francis - Amoris Laetitia #298 The divorced who have entered a new union, for example, can find themselves in a variety of situations, which should not be pigeonholed or fit into overly rigid classifications leaving no room for a suitable personal and pastoral discernment. One thing is a second union consolidated over time, with new children, proven fidelity, generous self giving, Christian commitment, a consciousness of its irregularity and of the great difficulty of going back without feeling in conscience that one would fall into new sins. The Church acknowledges situations "where, for serious reasons, such as the children's upbringing, a man and woman cannot satisfy the obligation to separate".329 There are also the cases of those who made every effort to save their first marriage and were unjustly abandoned, or of "those who have entered into a second union for the sake of the children's upbringing, and are sometimes subjectively certain in conscience that their previous and irreparably broken marriage has never been valid.".330 Another thing is a new union arising from a recent divorce, with all the suffering and confusion which this entails for children and entire families, or the case of someone who has consistently failed in his obligations to the family. It must remain clear that this is not the ideal which the Gospel proposes for marriage and the family. The Synod Fathers stated that the discernment of pastors must always take place "by adequately distinguishing",331 with an approach which "carefully discerns situations".332 We know that no "easy recipes" exist.333

Pope Pius XI - Casti Connubii #10
Now when We come to explain, Venerable Brethren, what are the blessings that God has attached to true matrimony, and how great they are, there occur to Us the words of that illustrious Doctor of the Church whom We commemorated recently in Our Encyclical Ad salutem on the occasion of the fifteenth centenary of his death:[9] "These," says St. Augustine, "are all the blessings of matrimony on account of which matrimony itself is a blessing; offspring, conjugal faith and the sacrament."[10] And how under these three heads is contained a splendid summary of the whole doctrine of Christian marriage, the holy Doctor himself expressly declares when he said: "By conjugal faith it is provided that there should be no carnal intercourse outside the marriage bond with another man or woman; with regard to offspring, that children should be begotten of love, tenderly cared for and educated in a religious atmosphere; finally, in its sacramental aspect that the marriage bond should not be broken and that a husband or wife, if separated, should not be joined to another even for the sake of offspring. This we regard as the law of marriage by which the fruitfulness of nature is adorned and the evil of incontinence is restrained."[11]
Or
God - Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Mark, up up to Francis I had expected the Pope to love, encourage, and support the faith.
Bee here:
I will join Bishop Morlino on Sept. 19, 20 and 21, fasting and praying in reparation for the sins committed against purity by clerics in the Catholic Church.
The priest at Mass this morning offered words of encouragement on this topic by saying that we must never think God is too little to overcome this atrocity; or that in His providence He is permitting all things to purify and sanctify us. It was a true word of hope.
God bless.

Anonymous,
Hell, MT won't respond to me why PF won't use his "awesome" (aka "ineffible" to adults) teaching powers to end the gay sex and drug parties by clerics at the Vatican.
Sorry. That should read: "Cardinal Burke has made it clear that he and Pope Francis are not at odds with each other."

As he's the Vicar of Christ, you are to submit to His Holiness Pope Francis.
Holy Mother Church has assured us that "in the Apostolic See the Catholic Religion has always been preserved immaculate."
Pope Francis' Magisterium is in line with his predecessors.
Pope Saint Pius X, 1912 A.D:
"The Pope is the guardian of dogma and of morals; he is the custodian of the principles that make families sound, nations great, souls holy; he is the counselor of princes and of peoples;
"And if Our Lord Jesus Christ said of Himself, "if any one love me, he will keep my word," therefore, in order to demonstrate our love for the Pope, it is necessary to obey him.
"Therefore, when we love the Pope, there are no discussions regarding what he orders or demands, or up to what point obedience must go, and in what things he is to be obeyed; when we love the Pope, we do not say that he has no...we do not place his orders in doubt, adding the facile pretext of those unwilling to obey...
..."we do not set above the authority of the Pope that of other persons, however learned, who dissent from the Pope, who, even though learned, are not holy, because whoever is holy cannot dissent from the Pope."

I don't understand the shocked reactions to the "McCarrick Scandal," as well as the Pennsylvania Report.
Did everybody believe that the clergy was devoid of homosexuals? Nobody knew that from the dawn of the Church, alongside holy priests, evil priests existed?
Nobody was aware that for century upon century, homosexuals had served as priests?
In regard to the Pennsylvania Report:
Had everybody forgotten that we've known for decades that bishops had transferred from parish to parish priests who had been accused of sexual abuse?
Suddenly, Cardinals, bishops, priests, religious, and laity are in shock...are amazed...that homosexual priests/abusive priests are found within the Church?
Everybody is shocked to have learned that bishops transferred from parish to parish priests who had been accused of sexual abuse?
Really?

Father McDonald I was just reading the Bishop Morlino’s letter on another site when I came to your blog to emotion it to see that you posted it already.
I wonder where our so brave Bishop of Savannah stands? Silent like the rest of the cowards. These cowards will not protect the flock as they can’t even protect from the heretic anti-pope in Rome.
Hey, Mark Thomas I don’t listen or follow heretics who can not be pope and heretic at the same time. It’s now clear to me that Pope Benedict XVI was forced out and gave into the fear of the wolves, which he prayed at his being made pope would not happen, but the lavender/st. Gallen mafia took him out and so we have now a heretical anti-pope that has no authority under God.
Fitting that anti-pope Francis chose the name Francis after St. Francis who predicted the ordination of a great destroyer. Now who besides Bergoglio fits this description.
Our Lady of Good Success hear our cries.

Hey Anonymoud, which pope are we supposed to give submission of intellect and will to? The Popes who enforced the traditional midnight Eucharistic Fast? Or Pope Venerable Pius XII who declared that the Church must conform to modern, changing times?
With that philosophy as his guide, Pope Venerable Pius changed the traditional midnight Eucharistic Fast. He declared that it was sufficient to fast just three hours prior to having received the Eucharistic.
Do we submit to Pope Venerable Pius XII or Popes who insisted upon the Traditional midnight Eucharistic Fast...or Pope Blessed Paul VI's one-hour Eucharistic Fast?

Anonymous, do we submit to Popes who denounced Catholic participation in the Ecumenical Movement, as well as prayer with non-Catholics?
Or do we submit to Pope Venerable Pius XII (as well as his successors who followed his lead), who opened the door to Catholic participation in the Ecumenical Movement...and who approved the practice of Catholics praying with non-Catholics?

Anonymous, when you go to Confession, do you submit to the Early Church Popes who held the ancient tradition that demanded that Catholics who confessed their sins were to perform strict penances that lasted for years?
Or do you submit to Popes who permit Catholics to perform, fast, easy penances — a Pater Noster/Ave Maria or two — that require a minute or so to complete?

Dan,
Yes, it is very discouraging when the Church's leaders appear not to believe her teachings.
MT wrote “Pope Francis' Magisterium is in line with his predecessors.” Prove it.
You just write something with no proof.
Francis said Our Lady at the foot of the cross despaired. That is heresy as it denies the Immaculate Conception.
Francis said people living together outside marriage IS a marriage. Wrong again.
Francis said, on more than one occasion that He’ll doesn’t exist. Another heresy.
Francis said that under certain circumstances adulterers are actually doing the will of God if children are involved. More evil.
There I have just shown how Francis is NOT in line with all the pope’s going back to Peter. He isn’t and to pretend he is, is ridiculous and a lie.
Why, why, why, CAN'T WE GET BISHOPS LIKE THAT DOWN HERE?
Anonymous, your interpretations of declarations that you've attributed to Pope Francis — example, you said that he declared that Hell doesn't exist (he did not say that) — and, in turn, constitute "heresy," according to you, don't carry any weight in the Catholic Church.
Each Catholic diocese and eparchy on earth is in communion with Pope Francis and recognizes him as the orthodox Pope of the Catholic Church.
The Holy People of God proclaim Pope Francis as their orthodox Pope.
God has authorized Pope Francis to teach, govern, and sanctify you.
Thanks to the promise of Jesus Christ, the Church of Rome, governed today by Pope Francis, has preserved immaculate the Catholic Religion. That is the faith of the True Church.
That is all the "proof" that I need to know in regard to Pope Francis' orthodoxy.
Anonymous, you preach, if you will, a false Gospel.

I cannot imagine any English bishop daring to issue a pastoral letter like this one. Apart from anything else, he would be promptly investigated by the police on suspicion of 'hate speech'. Earlier this month my own bishop (geographically speaking - most of the Masses I attend are in Oxfordshire, which is in the Birmingham archdiocese), Peter Doyle of Northampton, was one of the keynote speakers at the conference this month of the homosexualist organization 'Quest'. He shared a platform with James Martin SJ and an openly 'gay' priest, James Alison.
Bishop Doyle, along with Cardinal Vincent Nichols, attended the Synods of 2014 and 2015. He expressed disappointment that the LGBT issue was downplayed, and suggested a future Synod be called to address this.
Bishop Morlino does not have to tender his resignation until the end of 2021. By which time one can hope that this pontificate will be over and he may be asked to stay on until a worthy successor can be found who will build on his excellent work.
John your last sentence is confusing. Could you clarify it. I guess it means you like Morlino and want him to stay as bishop after 2021?
Sounded to me like he does. He was asting. Shadow by comparison on the clergy in UK. I assume 2021 is Bishop Morlino’s 75th birthday.
MT is the new "artful dodger." He NEVER responds to a question that puts his Golden Calf in a bad light, but spews meaningless drivel, that has nothing to do with the issues at hand.
I thought you would find this interesting with regard to the Bishop Morlino approach compared to the Cupich approach to the crisis:

I am grateful to you for drawing my attention to Bill Donohue's article. I know nothing of Pennsylvania (although I have relatives there) and grand juries no longer exist in common law jurisdictions apart from the USA, and, I am told, Liberia.
As I understand it, their function is both investigative and accusatory and serve as a check on unfair prosecutions. However, in the PA case the alleged offences are so old as to be time-expired and the report is basically what we in England would term 'muck-raking'. It is highly unlikely that any indictments will result from it. In this respect it is an abuse of the grand jury process.
The report is also biased in that it focuses only on the Catholic Church, is promoted by a (Jewish) Attorney General with political ambitions, and (as Dr Donohue points out) is riddled with untruths. That being said, it is not 'trash', an epithet you use in respect of anything you happen to disagree with.
On another tack, remember that Pius X, despite his personal humility, inherited and indeed enlarged upon a concept of the papacy which was by any standards extreme. The quotation you give, if followed to the letter, would give rise to what might be called 'Mottramism' (see 'Brideshead Revisited' if you don't understand the allusion). What Pius did not and could not foresee was a pope who did not show himself to be 'a guardian of doctrine and morals' but rather struck an ambiguous pose on both; who appeared to conflate his own personal opinion with Church doctrine; and when required to 'confirm the brethren' maintained an obstinate silence.
Eventually (one hopes) you will grasp this. Popes are not 'oracles of God' - and compared with Pope Francis the Delphic and Sibylline oracles are models of clarity!
Fr AJM
I suspect that if Bp Morlino was 75 tomorrow and tendered his resignation, it would be accepted straight away and a Cupich clone appointed who would undo all his work. And vocations would plummet.
Morlino has lived up to his motto - 'visus non mentietur'. He sees things as they are and is not going to lie about them.
John Nolan,
Ah, a Cupich clone would indeed undo Bishop Morlino's fine work. People of Cupich's ilk do not care for results, just their "Agenda" no matter how wrongheaded it is. The Archdiocese of Chicago continues to contract under his "leadership." What Chicago needed instead was its native son, Thomas Paprocki, now the bishop of Sprinfield, Illinois. He is committed to the Faith (not the ersatz version Cupich pedals), is a canon and civil lawyer, celebrates Mass in Latin, and is a talented athlete with an engaging personality. No you can't have him because he might be successful.
TJM - It has puzzled me that Chicago's own, Bishop Joseph Perry, has never received advancement. One might have thought that the usual "diversity" considerations would have made him a prime candidate. What is his role as auxiliary bishop there?
Henry,
I suspect Bishop Perry has not advanced because he is a living embodiment and an affront to liberal identity policies of which Cupich is so fond of. Here is Bishop Perry, an African-American bishop, not interested at all in inculturation in the Mass but a proponent and celebrant of the EF. Can't have that, the agenda, you know. He really does not have much of a role with the current regime.
Bee may have better insights than I do on this matter.
Bishop Morlino demonstrates leadership qualities that are not as easily discerned elsewhere in the Church. Though I do not foresee this papacy appointing others like him, he is what is needed now.
As for the PA Attorney General's Report, people should exercise care as they attempt to debunk their perception of myth vs their understanding of the facts, bias within the report and from the Attorney General's Office or even attempting to analyze this report without understanding the current legal definition of rape in the U.S. It is reasonable to attempt to do this however, if you don't live in Pennsylvania and haven't lived through the revelations, removals of your priests and trials over the last 15+ years, it might be difficult to understand why this came about and by a civil authority no less! Despite the credible accusations, so few will be brought to justice which is unfortunate. That aside, to me, if this prevents even one person's life from being ruined, it has added value.
Everyone here, please take this next statement as Charity: if your Faith is shaken so that you give up prayer, either personal or the Mass, or the Communion of Saints because of the actions of mere men then you have not had your heart in the right place. Anger and emotion serves as a temporary motivator and can fail to move us as readily as it incites us to action. If I had happened on the lurid acts described in the Pennsylvania document I would have been upset. I hope I would also have been moved for concern for the evil and disturbed people as much as for the Sacraments and sacred objects; it is, after all, their actual purpose to aid in dedeeming the sinner. The bishops themselves were led astray as I believe the Holy Father has been in many cases. For many bishops I think relieving them of a burden they are not equipped to carry is Charitable. When I have to fire an employee the reasons are almost aleays well known to that person as well as many others. Unless the person was engaged in a seriously immoral or illegal act I can usually find a graceful exit for the person. This works because people are not usually keen to remain in a position where they are known as poor performers as much their clear understanding that they are going to be relieved whether or not they cooperate. In the case of a superior who is struggling with assigned duties a different tact must be taken. Non-Catholics are often confused by our prayers to Mary, thinking that we worship her. We do not, of course, and do not worship these men. They have failed to varying degrees and embarrased us and jeopardized many, many souls. I am free to respond with a clear head as extensivly as is need to fix the problem. This is the opportunity the bishops wasted with their priests and we can’t let it go by without our own Actions to help the clergy purge themselves.
Mark Thomas....wrong again.
“God has authorized Pope Francis to teach, govern, and sanctifY...”
No actually it was the St. Gallen Mafia who did that. Francis’ good friend, you know the Cardinal who protected a bishop who raped his own nephew for decades, Cardinal Daneells said it was they who worked to get Francis elected. Which of course is against Pope John Paul’s legislation and invalidates the election.
And really, comparing popes changing Eucharistic fast times to a pope permitting adultery. Come now. Who came up with that one for you. And When it’s proven that good old Francis moved around molesting priests in South America and has to resign how are you going to justify him remaining. Better start working on that one. And you know he moved at least one priest, they all did. Maybe you’ll be able to visit him in prison one day.
