This was what the post reported but it doesn’t make sense in terms of Covid 19 and no one else communing from his Chalice. Could it be related to his colon surgery and medication/chemotherapy he may be taking where he can’t tolerate the “accident” of the Wine? What say you?
Pope Francis receives Holy Communion by intinction (instead of drinking the Precious Blood directly from the Chalice) and performs the ablution himself right after receiving Holy Communion (despite having a deacon present at Mass), before the other concelebrants receive Holy Communion (there might be other chalices for their Communion).
My speculation for his reasons doing this is due to the COVID19 Pandemic.
