LET’S DREAM OF A “TRADITIONIS CUSTODES” FOR THOSE WHO CELEBRATE THE NORMATIVE MASS OF THE LATIN RITE OF THE ROMAN CHURCH

Traditionis custodes an odd name for a document which tries to abrogate about 1,600 years of ethos for the Latin Rite Mass, should have been and could still be written to abrogate the too numerous liturgical abuses in the only 50 year tradition of abusive ethos of the 1970 Roman Missal.

What might that document look like and contain?

1. It would demand that bishops write documents on the liturgy incorporating what the pope would have done earlier, revising the General Instruction of the Roman Missal of 2002 and ramping up the rubrics of this Missal.

2. The first words of Traditionis Custodes to make more orthodox the celebration of the 1970 Roman Missal would ideally be:
“Do the red and read the black!”

3. The ramped up GIRM and rubrics would incorporate all from the 1962 Roman Missal omitted in the 1970’s and further incarnations of it so that no one would have to rely on this nebulous principle:

'Attention should be paid to what is determined by this General Instruction and the traditional practice of the Roman Rite'.

"tries to abrogate"

Thank you at least for THAT distinction!

Yes it tries, and, like previous attempts, it will fail. Time, Tradition and History is on the side of the angels.
