FOR ALL THE SAINTS!

At Saint Anne’s 6 pm All Saints’ Day Mass, we asked our children to dress as their favorite saints. I was amazed at how many children and adults were at this non-obligatory Mass, just as many if not more, who would come to an obligatory Mass.

At the entrance procession, the children in costume preceding the liturgical procession to the altar.

At the homily, I invited those in costume to come and join me in the sanctuary. And while the homily was geared toward the kids, it was more for the adults there and listen the adults and children did.

While most of the kids were in saints’ costumes that were of another period of time, I chose to ask the child dress as Blessed Carlo Actus to stand, so I could describe this young boy’s life who died in 1995 at the age of 15.

The boy’s costume was a pull over red shirt, blue jeans and Niki shoes!

After the homily, I asked all the kids to stand and face the congregation for a group photo—a nice visual or “show and tell” to conclude my homily:

We also have a fabulous All Saints Party for the kids and adults after Mass in our social hall and even the adults, dressed like saints at Mass, helped with the party! It was great!

That’s nice, and looks fun! We had a similar All Saints after Sunday Mass. there were 350+ in attendance and the had a pancake breakfast. The child would each recite some description of the saint and the audience was encouraged to shout their guess as to who the saint was based on the dress and clues. Loads of fun but my feet were tired after shuttling so many pancakes.
