WHEN IS “RE-ENCHANTMENT” A BIT TOO MUCH?

I prefer the traditional look of Catholic Churches and the renovations and wreckovations we have experienced since the 1970’s has been a colossal scandal of misused charitable contributions and destroying what previous generations gave, not to mention, destroying the architectural integrity of buildings which architects paid a great deal of attention to unity of sight lines, etc.

Thus this renovation while nice seems a bit too much to me. Although the total interior is not shown, it strikes me as a more modern building with an antique look imposed upon it, a clash of styles if you will. I ask, why?

Before:

After:

And please notice the oscillating fans in the after look! What’s up with that? Maybe they could have spent less on some of the glitz so as to have money for a central HVAC!!!!!! Come on guys!

I don't care for either - not my taste. But #2 is far more cringe-worthy than #1.

Do we know where this church is and whether the florid decor style reflects a particular cultural ethos? The banner on the right is in English...

Well-intentioned, no doubt, but has the same aesthetic as a roadside vendors velvet painting of a unicorn. Or Elvis Presley.

Although I like the design of the second photo, the lines, shapes, etc but the colors and decoration are over the top. Less would be more

If you look close the only thing new is the painting on the vault and the altars, probably used and better statues, again probably used.
Maybe their concern was the glory of god and not their comfort!
It also would help to know where this church is, some parts of the country really doesn't need air conditioning.
P.S. I love it, the altars maybe a bit over the top but still much improved over the sterile look before. Wish there was a pic from further back in church, any idea where this is?
