This mosaic is beautiful but there is a fly in the ointment with the eyes and mouth on both the images of Baby Jesus and His and our Most Blessed Mother. Can it be corrected? I am sure it cost a pretty penny!
I'm inclined to reserve judgement until viewed from a distance. Oftentimes, larger scale pieces such as this are intended to be viewable and recognizable at a distance. Given this, features that look exaggerated up close appear normal/natural farther away. It's just perspective. Another example is a marbleized column. Up close, it may look like large dots however, from the perspective of a pew sitter, it looks like marble with the expected veining. This might not be the problem that it appears to be.

Hey, 99% of it looks pretty good. I couldn't possibly produce something like this. But then again, I'm pretty fond of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
