OF THESE FIRST COMMUNICANTS, WHICH ONE AS AN ADULT WILL ACTUALLY BELIEVE WHAT THE CHURCH BELIEVES ABOUT THE MOST HOLY EUCHARIST, COMMONLY CALLED HOLY COMMUNION?

Let’s see, which one leads to “Eucharistic Coherence?”

Well, photo 1 obviously portrays a milestone in a child's life. Is Photo 2 supposed to be the Offertory? My Roman Parish does have cross/candle bearers that process down to the "break" and leads back those presenting the gifts. I believe we get folks to commit to doing this and sitting by the table prior to the start of mass. This does add some dignity/ceremony where often it looks like an add-on performed by those sitting nearest after the "who's got this" glances make their way around.

No, dear, ByRus, those two young souls are about to receive their First Holy Communion! This moment, once so sacred and so unforgettable, has been reduced to what appears to be a mere photo op. It breaks my heart every time I see it.

William,

Ahh... From my phone, it was difficult to tell if the priest was taking, or the children receiving. I was in my Office working/hurrying so, I just didn't take the time to observe the obvious. Thank you, though.
