THIS NEW YORK TIMES OP ED CONFIRMS FOR ME THAT I AM TRULY "WITH IT" AND A PART OF THE "NOW GENERATION!"

Three youthful priests of the "with it" and "now" generation having completed celebrating a Solemn Sung TLM at the Savannah's Basilica high altar. This will surely send their elderly white haired and no haired spirit of Vatican II Catholics into apoplexy!

This will turn Vatican II Catholics (mostly "spirit of VII) hair white! Oh, it already is, if present!

MONEY QUOTE:

For example, while American Catholics are in slow decline, attendance at parishes that celebrate the Latin Mass is on the rise. Some have doubled weekly membership in the past few years. Even some evangelical churches — long suspicious of the “smells and bells” of high church practice — are embracing liturgy.

Feel good story of the day, although I am shocked that Hell's Bible would print the truth. When I attend the EF (I am in my late 60s) and I generally the oldest person there. The priest and congregation are far younger than me. The old lefties in denial, including bishops, should
be required to do penance by attending the EF.

Father McDonald,

I noticed the author had to take a cheap shot at the Republican Party. I guess she does not know that the Democratic Party supports in its very party platform intrinsic evil. People who attend the Mass celebrated in Latin do not support this instrinsic evil and do not vote for that party.

So true TJM, the vast vast majority of people who attend a TLM are indeed young and with a large amount of children in attendance, they are craving a reverent and an adult Mass, one can only attend a Life Teen Mass for so long and its time to grow up and start attending a real Mass as in the TLM.

most religion writers are utterly ignorant of the subject matter, along with the, editors, and had they realized that not all Catholics are liberal modern Democrats, not even in NYC, and that traditional leaning often translates to traditional cultural values, and might even mean REPUBLICAN spawn of Hades (they all know Hell does not exist), they likely would never write of Catholicism again. .....shhhhhhhh...

Father, I hate to bust your bubble, but if not also hip and a groovy hep-cat, you still are only a "□".

Identifying as a practicing Catholic today is counter-culture. It isn’t surprising that young Catholics who want to identify with the Church would seek TLM parishes. Most of the OF parishes want to blend in with the secular society that surrounds them. I do wish I could find one of those TLM parishes without going to a break away society.

Bob,

There are actually a number of traditional parishes in New York City where the EF is celebrated. They are oases in a dry, desert of OF parishes

Oh, I know those churches in NYC quite well. They are the only ones with full houses, and it is quite funny to compare Holy Innocents Tridentine daily Mass attendence to the same church Novus ordo attendence on Sunday, where the Novus Ordo still loses.

But, by and large, the typical New Yorker who still somehow attends Mass attends the Novus Ordo in the many magnificent churches where a filled church is something from a bygone era. The traditionalists generally exiled to the less magnificent or shabbier churches. Much of the traditional crowd is also of newer immigrant status, fyi.
