A FAREWELL TO THE CATHEDRAL BASILICA

I started the day with a walk on the beach to Skillits for breakfast. Then drove 35 miles to our Cathedral Basilica in Savannah for the last Traditional Latin Mass there at 1 pm. Next Sunday it moves to Sacred Heart Church about six blocks away. It is such a beautiful form of the Mass.

The outdoor breakfast is crab cake eggs Benedict in honor of Pope Benedict.

For what it's worth, your breakfast looked seriously good.

Even though this mass is moving, for many, that's not the case. Hopefully, Fr, it too shall come to pass. I never thought after the books for the '62 missal were dusted off that they would be going back on the shelf again - and so soon. To those seeking this expression of holy mass, it's unfortunate to have some experiencing double jeopardy. I don't personally believe this will result in unity. It's a shame. I truly feel bad for those who have either been displaced, or outright denied.

So now we wait to see how far this will go with this pope and if the same group can chose a likeminded successor.

The injustice of all of this is breathtaking. When one knows that almost 90% of Catholics don’t even attend Mass, don’t believe what the Church teaches and are completely indifferent, to take an iron fist to Catholics, both clergy and laity, who embraced Pope Benedict’s liberal allowance of this Mass is simply a scandal of more abusive behavior towards others who followed what another pope (in fact two popes) allowed.

This is sad beyond words. And so very mean spirited. I attend this Mass whenever I’m in Savannah visiting my sister. In fact, it brought my sister back to the church after many years away. We are heartbroken over this. And why move it out of the cathedral when they are going to shut it down anyway.

Father, your comment at 7:39 says it all.

Although I haven't attended a TLM in years now, (and don't really have the desire to go back), if I were in the shoes of the bishops, this instruction would have went straight to the round filing cabinet...And this ruling makes bridges with the East that much further apart.

We have to look at this for what it is. Is this abusive? To be sure. Is it unfair? Obviously.

But when this kind of overreach takes place, it is also a "tell". Apostate Rome is terrified. They KNOW their absurd "revolution" that allegedly brought us the "New Church" is over.

THEY KNOW IT. THIS IS A LAST-DITCH ADMISSION OF DEFEAT DISGUISED AS A VICTORY FOR "MEN" WHO HAVE BETRAYED THEIR OWN VOWS.

I am sorry that we must suffer this. But is will not last. It simply cannot and, in their heart of hearts, the authors of this absurdity know it.

I agree with the orthodox physicist, and while the round filing cabinet suggestion is agreeable to most of us here, it is not realistic. I have it on good authority that Bishop Parkes is taking a lot of heat from both the Vatican and some bishops here in the U.S.. He is new to this bureaucratic nightmare in the Church and he needs our prayers. The pressure he is under must be crushing at times.

If Jerome is correct then it is time for the traditionalist latin and orthodox types to let the bishop know he is supported where it counts. The people who support Church teaching, believe it, give money, attend Mass, and send their children to convents and seminary. Give him a choice from the faithless and bullies. Form a link with other charitable bishops and maybe have our own “synod”.

The youth of this crowd is all the evidence you need that the Vetus Ordo will prevail and Rome’s corrupt act will fail. Deus Vult!
