Please let us pray for the people of Ukraine, their safety and wellbeing. The lack of vocations in the Byzantine Ruthenian Church has resulted in us here relying on Rusyn Byzantine priests from Ukraine and Slovakia to fill the void. The situation is similar for Ukrainian Catholics as well as some of the Orthodox jurisdictions. These priests of God labor dutifully in our country while their families and friends live precariously at home. May peace prevail and until that time, may those who remained behind be kept safe.

It is a scary time in The Ukraine.

If President Trump was still in office, the Ukraine would be safe. Unlike the leftwing media, no government respects Biden, a Russian puppet. Trump made the US energy independent, Biden has made Russia great again through his anti-US energy policies. Leftwing clergy, hardest hit

If George Washington were still in office, he'd have sent a letter to Catherine II and the Ukraine would be safe.

Or if Teddy Roosevelt were still in office, he'd have had harsh words for Nicholas II and the Ukraine would be safe.

Of maybe if LBJ were still in office, he'd have helped keep the USSR from invading Czechoslovakia by flying to Prague and joinging the lines of the... oh, wait, the USSR did invade.

Well, maybe Trump, in 1968, could have... oh, wait, that's when he was "obtaining" is fourth draft deferrment.

And it Eleanor Roosevelt could have flown under her own power.... That's something you would not have seen on Mulberry Street.

Even democrats including Clapper are concerned about the free fall our country is in due to an aging president suffering from dementia and incompetent people around him, from the economy, to energy, to abortion on demand, to inflation and now the possibility of World War III beginning in Europe, a train wreck in slow motion that the wannabe Putin is causing as his country become the Soviet Union again. We're in a mess and the democrats know it and the massacre that will happen this mid term election cycle.

Dear, dear delusional Fr. ALLAN McDonald. Please show me the lever or the knob that President Biden uses to raise or lower the rate of inflation. Or the one he uses to raise and lower gas prices. Yeah, I'd like to see that.

You know who drives inflation? You and I and every other person who buys goods. And where's this free fall in energy? I bought gasoline this morning and had hot water when I showered. Is something different going on down in Richmond Hill?

As for gas prices, the higgest in the last 20 ywars were in July 2008 during the Bush administration.

This chart will give Father K the sads because it cleary shows that gas prices were the highest during the Obama years:

Good heavens, reading some of these posts is like listening to Don Lemon. Inflation is driven when demand exceeds supply. We are experiencing a cosmic crisis of supply because of draconian, excessive, anti-scientific, globalist-imposed, obsessive, dictatorial, deadly restrictions and mandates about masks and, especially, the ineffective and oft-deadly VACCINES. In America, the author of these restrictions is no less than the genius allegedly elected in November 2020--the same genius who is constructing a Democratic Party annihilation for November 2022.

And what did this genius do on his first day in office? Shut down the Keystone pipeline, because energy independence, a key national security issue, means nothing to him and the other effete elitists of his liberal ilk. No, no, no, he's more interested in making sure that every white person in America gets reminded of how horribly racist he/she is every waking moment and protecting some ephemeral ideal of "mother earth" (Pachapapa has to love that).

If you voted for this moron (my apologies to the decent morons of the world), then you deserve what you get, especially when you fill up at the pump. And when YOU cry "fraud" this November after your party is obliterated into irrelevance, don't expect anyone to take you seriously. After all, there won't be any evidence.

There is a very good article at the Forbes website, by a Robert Rapier entitled, "Which President Oversaw The Highest Gasoline Prices?" including lots of visuals (graphs) that make his points. He concludes his story with this summary:

"The answer to the title question, however, is that President Obama oversaw the highest average annual gasoline prices. President Bush oversaw the lowest. The average price during President Trump’s four-year term was very much in line with the second terms of both Bush and Obama until the Covid-19 pandemic sent prices reeling. So, President Trump ends up with the second-lowest four-year average of any President in the past 20 years."

However before anyone here starts doing their "I told you so" dance, I would add this previous paragraph for your reading pleasure:

"We can debate whether certain presidents made some impact on oil prices, but that impact would be modest. The factors above are the primary reasons oil prices rose and fell since 2001, and presidential decisions didn’t have a lot of impact on most of these factors.

"To the extent that President Bush’s decisions led to the 2008-2009 recession, you could argue that he helped crash oil prices early in Obama’s term. And to the extent that Bush helped fund the fracking boom, he is partially responsible for the surge in U.S. oil production, and the crash in oil prices a decade later.Likewise, to the extent that Obama’s decisions helped lead the way out of the recession, you can “blame” him for the subsequent rise in the price of oil. Likewise, if you believe Biden’s decisions are helping end the Covid-19 pandemic, you can “blame” him for the surge in oil prices that followed. But I would point out that this surge actually started in earnest last fall when it became clear that new vaccines were on the way. So, if you want to “blame” President Trump for that, then you could probably also defend that position.

"Remember that the issue of oil and gasoline prices is a two-edged sword. Low gasoline prices may be good for consumers, but it often signals problems with the overall economy. So when a president makes policy decisions to strengthen the econ0my, there is often an increase in oil and gasoline prices.

"But as I always say, these policy changes take many years to bear fruit. Presidents have really limited ability to impact gasoline prices in the short term."

He's probably right. However, when Biden shut down the Keystone Pipeline on day one as president, he wasn't exactly helping America's energy independence, or for that matter, global oil supply.

Thomas Garrett,

You need to understand Father K is a bigtime lefty and votes for a Party that views abortion as “healthcare.” You can’t reason with a guy like that

Thomas Garrett said...

If that is the case, what do you honestly hope to achieve by calling him out all the time? You can't shame him. You're certainly not going to change his mind about anything. About the only thing you might achieve is to disgust people enough that they ditch this blog for good.

Seriously, for your own well-being, give it a rest. Please.

Let us refocus on and perhaps offer a prayer for our Eastern Catholic and Orthodox brothers and sisters who have been greatly imperiled in Ukraine. Many of our priests are laboring here with parents and families in the crosshairs. Our gas prices are nothing compared to how the families of friends of mine are currently existing.

As some from there and Russia read this blog, let us use it prayerfully and constructively during this time.

Thomas Garrett,

The Democrat Party has not been for the little guy since the Clintoons came on the scene. They, the Obamas and the Bidens have enriched themselves off of “public service.” Harry Truman would call them crooks, yet simpletons in the Media and Academia and the Church see nothing wrong with it. No wonder those institutions no longer garner much respect.
