SOME MORE OF MY MOST SENSICAL SUGGESTIONS FOR THE ORDINARY FORM LITURGY THAT IS ALWAYS IN NEED OF REFORM

I. Let’s reform the Roman Calendar and Roman Missal to restore the Season of Septuagesima using the prayers, propers and lectionary from the 1962 Roman Missal.

II. For Funeral Masses, reform the Novous Ordo Mass by eliminating the Alleluia (substitute Septuagesima or Lenten acclamations instead), restore the free standing Kyrie and restore the Requiem Lamb of God.

III. For the Nuptial Mass, restore the free standing Kyrie

IV. For the Palm Sunday Masses, restore the free standing Kyrie

V. For the Candlemas, restore the free standing Kyrie

VI. For the Asperges and Vidi Acquam restore it as a prelude to the Mass

V. Restore the Prayers at the Foot of the Altar/and mandate the propers in the Missal

VI. Restore the 1962 Roman Missal Offertory Prayers

VII. Restore the triple Domini Non Sum Dignus

VIII. Restore the Last Gospel

IX. Restore the Sucipiat and Placeat

X. Look the last two up

Since you can have clown masses and liturgical dance with the Novus Ordo I don’t see any problems with this. I recall with fondness the Agnus Dei for the Requiem Mass

To be honest with you, my liberal 1970's priestly training has enabled me to veer off into illicit tinkering with the Mass and yes, I, in my younger day, would have done this, but as I mature, I much prefer being an "in law" rather than an "out law" but I am tempted to the second as it concerns my list of the Ordinary Form of the Mass needing constant reforming!

Father McDonald,

You would be among a select group of priests that follows liturgical law. The lawlessness of priests celebrating the OF has a lot to do with peoples’ appreciating the EF.

Just celebrate according to the 1962 Missal. End of.

JN, yes indee that seems logical.

Lets try this. It is 1965. The new Mass is the new wine which the Council is pouring into the Old wineskin, ie. the Catholic Church. The new fermentation is destined to ruin the old wineskin.

And also Dear Father, you are recommending fixing an old garment, the NO, with some new patches. The outcome will be as the biblical parallel forecast it.

I appreciate your efforts and wish you a great deal of luck. The problem is that the Pachamama loving new breed is not sorry about the busted old wineskin nor interested in fixing the garment holes. They have sung the new church into being and the music was not by Pallestrina but MartyHaugen.

John Amen. The NO NGO Ape of the church can’t be patched.

John,

LOL!

I think every priest should simply add them on his own.

Monkmcg,

Given what goes on at the St. Sabina’s of the world, why not? The PF approach actually promotes disobedience through its blatant double standard regarding the Liturgy. If TC resulted in liturgical norms being enforced, it might have a shred of legitimacy
