A "PRIEST" SHREDS THE RECTOR AND FEMALE BISHOP OF THE PROTESTANT EPISCOPAL CATHEDRAL IN WASHINGTON, DC

I'll let you read the article at Praytell which strikes me as truly unecumenical coming from an ultra progressive priest. He takes to task and shreds like Shredded Wheat the National Cathedral's rector and bishop for inviting an evangelical pastor to preach from their pulpit via recording. He crucifies the homilist they invited to speak.

I don't  know anything about this evangelical pastor. It sounds, though, that he might be an "orthodox" Evangelical pastor, but who knows? The Episcopal priest though, is truly unwelcoming, uninclusive and judgmental of the evangelical minister.

And then this Anglican priests has the temerity to shred the local Catholic diocese, its Cathedral's rector by writing this which makes it sound like he's Catholic but he's not: My local Roman Catholic cathedral has a notorious pastor who almost weekly references sin, homosexuals and divorced persons in his sermons, without qualification or clarification.

But what I find disturbing is that a "priest" is participating in the "cancel culture" that has reared its ugly and unChristian head is applying it to the National Cathedral's rector and bishop and their invited guest. A  priest is doing this.

If this evangelical had railed against some of the other profound social issues of the day, he would have been applauded as prophetic. Yet when he rails against some aspects of the post-modern, post-Christian views of sexuality today, where men can claim to be women, women can claim to be men and I claim that my spelling is the truth regardless of any English speaking authority, he is chastised as a neanderthal, so to speak as I don't want to denigrate neanderthals.

Does not the Word of God apply to all who are sinners, in need of repentance and reconciliation? Are preachers to be canceled and persecuted like the prophets of old and martyred for speaking an ounce of truth? Just wondering.

James Hadley, OblSB

James Hadley is a priest in the Church of England currently serving in the Diocese of St. Albans.

The Diocese of St. Albans

The Diocese of St Albans forms part of the Province of Canterbury in England and is part of the wider Church of England, in turn part of the worldwide Anglican Communion.

Wanna re-think your BOMBSHELL post there, Good Father?

Where do I say he's not a Church of England priest????????????????????

Maybe when you read "priest" it confused you?

You changed the post, taking out the word "Catholic."

Dishonesty isn't a good plan.

Easy Google sounds like the snarky priest who often posts here. Yawn

Anon 11:04 - Reardless of your opinion, the Blog Owner originally made a HUGE deal over what he thought this "ultra progressive Catholic priest" posted on PrayTell. He has since changed his post and is desirous that the whole affair be swept under the rug.

Turns out, Hadley isn't a Catholic priest at all, it's not a "shredding" of Episcopalians by a Catholic in some truly "unecumencial" juggernaut.

In his excitement of finding a way to take an ignorant jab at ecumenism, as is typical for the Blog Owner, he negelcted the fact that Hadley is, in fact, an Anglican/Episcopalian who is speaking to his own Anglican/Episcopalian brothers and sisters.

Nothing to see here, unless your biases make it hard for you to discern the facts. And facts aren't snarky.

Cheers!

Googlemess I am shocked you condone the insensitivity of the priest toward people on the other side of the pond who in ecumenical splendor opened their pulpit in the most hospitable and inclusively gracious way to an evangelical preacher and prophet. He shreds like shredded wheat ecumenism engaged by the National Cathedral.

Would it be “hate speech” and or “spiritual violence” for a priest or pastor or any Christian to simply quote what St Paul or the Catechism of the Catholic Church says about homosexuality?
For a lot of people in Western nations the answer would be: Yes!
Modern Woke Critical Theorists believe in the overwhelming power of language and they believe it must endlessly be scrutinised and cleansed of racism, sexism and homophobia (as they define those words) Also, they are very concerned with the ways, they believe, language and discourses (how we talk about things) shape social reality through its ability to constrain and shape knowledge.
For Woke Critical Theorists and modern social justice scholars-activists the Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church contain hundreds of sexist, misogynistic and homophobic discourses.......
Many of these people actually believe that just as all white people in Western nations simply can’t help being racist because of the powerful systems of powerful racist discourses they were born into - so most Western Christians can’t help being sexist, misogynistic and homophobic because of the powerful sexist and homophobic discourses they were born into and continue to embrace through their lives.

By the way, in recent times one of Australia’s great footballers of all time got his contract torn up for simply quoting on social media (without commentary) a few verses of St Paul which included St Paul’s beliefs on homosexuality. And an Australian Catholic Bishop was summoned to appear before a tribunal for “hate speech” because he quoted the Catechism of the Catholic Church on homosexual acts...

Easy Google,

But you are snarky and I understood the priest was an Anglican.

You have a lot of time on your hands for someone who is supposed to be running a parish

Anon 2:34 - You may have understood the person in question was Anglican - emphasis on "may" - but the Blog Owner did not. He stands corrected whether he acknowledges it or not.

The time it takes to recognize and respond to his erroneous posts is less than a minute.

And it takes even less time to respond to your inanity.

Easy Google, your “research” and comments are the epitome of inanity. You are a berk

You mean the dean...the head of the cathedral church. "Rector" is more often used for the pastor of the local parish.

I thought the National Cathedral was supposed to be a house of prayer for all peoples. I guess not....
