I THINK THE VATICAN INSIDER WOULD DO WELL TO ENCOURAGE BOTH POPES TO SPEAK THE TRUTH AS THE ONLY SANE WAY TO MOVE FORWARD.

I am sure Pope Benedict is suffering but not for the reasons in this incredible essay. Push title for complete article:
Some have tried to frame the Pope Emeritus as
testimonial of the former nuncio’s dossier that calls
for Bergoglio’s resignation. Their attempt grounds
on the ideological fetish of the “war between the
Popes”. Here’s how it went
Pope Ratzinger

The architects of the Viganò affair have always had Pope Francis as their clear target. But during their coordinated assault on the current Bishop of Rome, they have also given the most brutal treatment - and are still inflicting it - on Benedict XVI, his predecessor on the throne of Peter. In the dirtiest passage of the whole strategy, they tried to pull him into their attack on Pope Bergoglio, trying to pass him off as the “godfather” of the operation. In this mix of pseudo-Puritan delirium, manipulations and lies , the violence that Joseph Ratzinger has suffered and continues to suffer from his most ruthless tormentors emerges with paradoxical transparency: the cliques of false supporters who insist on getting him involved, i.e. to frame him in the ideological wars and power with which they are tearing the flesh of Christ. They won’t leave him alone, not even now, while he is in “Peter’s enclosureˮ, living with his heart and eyes fixed on the mystery that makes the Church live.

To what end? It appears that one could make a strong argument that the special interests, cliques, homosexuals etc. have made the Church ungovernable. Perhaps said structure needs to be completely leveled and rethought (wasn't that Francis' main objective as pope??)
If that's not possible, then perhaps the bolt of lightning that hit St. Peter's 5 years ago should have been more destructive.

ByzRC, Gravo, well said. I hope some bishops are reading this blog. To paraphrase Sally Fields, "we despise you, we really despise you!"

Benedict is a coward who ran from the wolves and their lavender mafia. Not much different from most Bishops here in the USA.
