Prayer for the Pope

O Lord, we are the millions of believers, humbly kneeling at Thy feet and begging Thee to preserve, defend and save the Sovereign Pontiff for many years. He is the Father of the great fellowship of souls and our Father as well. On this day, as on every other day, he is praying for us also, and is offering unto Thee with holy fervoUr the sacred Victim of love and peace.

Wherefore, O Lord, turn Thyself toward us with eyes of pity; for we are now, as it were, forgetful of ourselves, and are praying above all for him. Do Thou unite our prayers with his and receive them into the bosom of Thine infinite mercy, as a sweet savor of active and fruitful charity, whereby the children are united in the Church to their Father. All that he asks of Thee this day, we too ask it of Thee in union with him.

Whether he weeps or rejoices, whether he hopes or offers himself as a victim of charity for his people, we desire to be united with him; nay more, we desire that the cry of our hearts should be made one with his. Of Thy great mercy grant, O Lord, that not one of us may be far from his mind and his heart in the hour that he prays and offers unto Thee the Sacrifice of Thy blessed Son. At the moment when our venerable High Priest, holding in His hands the very Body of Jesus Christ, shall say to the people over the Chalice of benediction these words: "The peace of the Lord be with you always," grant, O Lord, that Thy sweet peace may come down upon our hearts and upon all the nations with new and manifest power.

No. I will not pray for J M Bergoglio. I will pray only for his resignation. Bergoglio is now a toxic brand.

I pray for flaming pitchforks that squirt caustic acids and gasoline from the tines... but it also includes the Francis... does that count?

Vatican II was the 9/11 of the Church.

We must pray also for folks within the Church who spew venom daily at His Holiness Pope Francis.

Example: As I scanned Twitter moments ago for Catholic-related news, I encountered the following from the wonderful "traditional" Catholic folks at Rorate Caeli:

"Keep repeating this slowly: we have a Pope who is a horrible human being." nice.

What makes His Holiness a "horrible human being"?

1. His constant promotion of fake news — lies.

2. His refusal to acknowledge his mistakes.

3. His determination to undermine the Papacy by pretending that Catholics are free to revolt against his God-given authority to teach, govern, and sanctify the Holy People of God.

Oh, sorry. The above describes Rorate Caeli, as well as those "traditional" Catholic bloggers/twitter folks who defame Pope Francis around the clock.

The most-publicized part of the right-wing/Archbishop ViganĂ² attack against Pope Francis — that Pope-Benedict sanctioned then-Cardinal McCarrick severely, only to have Pope Francis "rehabilitate" then-Cardinal McCarrick — has collapsed.

The attack against Pope Francis has flopped. That is, the attempt to ascribe evil to Pope force his resignation as "prove" that Pope Francis is wicked, has flopped.

However, the attack, authored by Satan, has succeeded in that the defamers have spread lies about Pope Francis. Satan has rejoiced as Pope Francis' defamers have unleashed scandal within and without the Church.

The defamers have convinced certain folks that Pope Francis is evil. Certain folks have believed the nonsense that the defamers concocted to destroy Pope Francis and his Pontificate.

We need to pray for those who've defamed Pope Francis. We need to pray for those who've defamed additional Churchmen.

Mark asks, "What makes His Holiness a 'horrible human being'?"

The role he has played -- however minor -- in the allowance for and cover-up of child rape by the clergy.

The scandal in the Church is the clerical child rape, Mark. It's pretty remarkable to me that you think alleged defamation is worse than that.

The alleged defamers didn't need to convince certain folks that Francis is evil. Anyone who covers up child sexual abuse is evil.

"Horrible human being" too much? How about "horrible pope?" Plenty of evidence supporting this judgement.

Mark Thomas said...

Marc, has Pope Francis covered up cases of "child rape by the clergy"?

I pray the words of Ps 108,9, may his office be short, and another take his place.
