Official portrait of Bishop Stephen Parkes, Diocese of Savannah
Nicely decorated---I like how the poinsettas don't overwhelm the sanctuary, as they seem to do in some parishes!Out of curiosity, what is the seating capacity of the sanctuary?
The church is four years old and was built to accommodate the growth occurring in Richmond Hill which is a bedroom suburb of Savannah. It seats about 1,100. Currently Christmas and Easter are the only times we fill it to capacity. And fortunately I don't have to add additional Masses because of its size and I can get away with only 2 Sunday Masses.
Add my complements. It was tastefully restrained yet conveys the Joy people feel. Looks like you had a cold snap. What was it, 65 degrees? 😂
Warm on Christmas and 80 today!
I like at least a couple of white poinsettias thrown in which compliment the vestments and break up the red and green.
Wow---that is impressive capacity, far above what 30327 finds at Atlanta's Cathedral of Christ the King, which maybe seats 700, and in tight pews. We really need a bigger cathedral but land is pricey in Atlanta's Buckhead area, where the cathedral is located. If the diagonally across the street Episcopal Cathedral of St. Philip goes out of business someday, the Archdiocese should make every effort to buy it---it can seat 1,400 and seldom is full.
