THE JOY OF HOLY THURSDAY AND THE BEGINNING OF THE PASCHAL TRIDUUM!

But first, for the important stuff of Holy Thursday, the finest wine and nothing but the finest for me! Almond Joy and “Wine Joy” at $3.49 a bottle, the finest kind of wine!!! Got it at Krogers!

But of course, Holy Thursday begins the Paschal Triduum with the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper which includes the “Mandatum”. Holy Thursday is also known as “Maundy” Thursday the bastardization of the magnificent Latin word for mandate, “Mandatum.”

At Holy Thursday’s Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper, a few years ago, I washed the feet of 12 parishioners, one of whom surprised me with decorated feet! On the first Holy Thursday, our Lord instituted two Sacraments, that of Holy Orders, or ”priesthood” when he ordained his apostles as the first priests and Jesus showed them that the Priesthood of the New Covenant must be not only ”offering the One Sacrifice of Good Friday in an unbloody, glorified way” but also of service symbolized by Jesus, the High Priest, washing the feet of the Apostles. The priesthood is necessary for the next Sacrament our Lord institutes, the Sacrament of His Body and Blood at the Last Supper to remember in an eternal way His Sacrifice of Good Friday on the Cross.

Drink what you enjoy... But may I suggest you browse the selection of wine at Hilton Head Wine and Spirits located on William Hilton Parkway (BUS 278) in The Plaza at Shelter Cove between Whole Foods and TJ Maxx? And stay the heck away from the bottom shelves on the wine aisle at Kroger....

Look fr Charles Krug, AKA Two Buck Chuck. Is more than two bucks these days, but gets high marks from Wine Spectator that I can vouch for. It is a ‘drink now’ vint, but is really very easy to drink even for guests that aren’t wine people.
