THE PATER NOSTER IN ARAMAIC CHANT!

I was just inform that what I thought was an Eastern Rite Greek Chant offered as an anthem during Holy Communion at the Cathedral’s EF Mass was actually the Our Father in Aramaic! The schola accomplished this without accompaniment but did provide the harmonizing hum.

I believe this is the same one they chanted:

Over here, a favourite vernacular setting of the Our Father is based on a chant by Nikolai Rimsky Korsakov (1844-1908). It's speeded up considerably and usually sung unharmonized (although a choir could provide the harmonies).

It's simple, but prayerful and effective.
