Yes we can tell that it was all about the Priest Celebrant any not Jesus or God!

Naw, you are confusing Father McDonald with the other guy who posts here under numerous fake names

If the COVID pandemic put paid to the foot-washing during Mass (part of Pius XII's wrecking of the Holy Week liturgy) then it can't be entirely a bad thing.

Pius the 12th wrecked the Holy Week liturgy? Golly, I thought he was viewed as too conservative, like supposedly sympathetic to Hitler. Guess it is like the debate on the recent voting legislation here in Georgia, can't get Democrats and Republicans to agree on the merits of the legislation, as one side always cries "voter suppression" and the other side "voter fraud."

At our Good Friday evening liturgy in 30327, the priests wore chasubles, which I thought was strange given that the Good Friday liturgy is not a Mass. Wonder why our pastor was not wearing a cope like in previous years?

Chasubles are prescribed now for Good Friday and red in color. I find it strange too. At one time, though, the Good Friday Liturgy of the Passion was known as the Mass of the Pre-Sanctified. Maybe that’s the thinking but then why change the name?

I believe in the EF Good Friday Liturgy or Mass of the Pre-Sanctified, a cope is worn, other priests if present wear choir dress. The color is black.

Anonymous K,

You politicize every post, confirming you are a Dem operative masquerading as a Catholic priest. I think it is the height of racism to assume a Black person is not smart enough to get a voter ID card. I assume Delta airlines is now waiving a photo ID card when boarding their airplanes. Otherwise, they are just another hypocritical, leftwing loon organization.

Yes, 30327 believes that the vestments on Good Friday should be subdued, given the bare surroundings---a bare altar, no flowers. "Dressing up" can wait for the Easter Vigil!

Well, at least we will have a rain-free Easter in 30327, if a bit on chilly side in the morning!

Nice, Fr. AJM.

Delta Airlines is not providing the citizenry with its only opportunity for direct involvement in the representative democratic republic. The herring is glowing red in this case.

The chasubles look quite nice.

In the EF (i.e. the post-1955 liturgy) the celebrant assumes a black cope for the solemn intercessions, the ministers dalmatic and tunicle of the same colour. These are removed for the adoration of the cross. For the Communion rite (no longer called the Mass of the Presanctified) celebrant and ministers change to violet vestments, the priest assuming a chasuble.

Pre-1955 the black chasuble was used for most of the liturgy and dalmatic and tunicle were replaced (as for the whole of Lent) with folded chasubles.
