THIS IS NOTHING TO CELEBRATE AS FAR AS VICTIMS ARE CONCERNED BUT HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OR READ THIS IN THE MAIN LINE MEDIA?

Billy Graham's grandson says the following but read the full article by pressing this sentence.

“If you just look at these numbers, they tell us that more children are being abused within Protestant churches than in the Catholic Church. One aspect of that is that there are way more Protestants and Protestant churches than there are Catholics.
“But for me, it's important to share that statistic when speaking with Protestant audiences so that they stop pointing their fingers at the Catholic Church and engage more with their own church.”

It should be obvious enough that one's religion does not cause sexual molestation. The idea that a Catholic priest is more likely to be a child molester is simply anti-Catholic and anti-clerical, but certainly not science. There's also no evidence to suspect that Catholic bishops responded to this crime less effectively than heads of other religions. However, pervert Catholic priests are more likely to abuse boys (due to rampant homosexuality among priests), and tend to have far more victims (due to no risk of pregnancy).

Perhaps it would helpful if he shared those numbers with the rest of us.

Not that I'm saying "Billy Graham's grandson" (I assume he has a full name) isn't an infallible source on such matters, but simply throwing that out there doesn't by itself make it so.

In any case, the "hook" on our Catholic scandals is how hard the church hierarchy worked to protect the priests, shuffling abusers from parish to parish to parish until they were able to abuse dozens of kids.

Abuse is horrible; a large institution continually protecting and enabling abusers is horrific. If Cardinal Law and some of his brothers ran a school district or a company or some other government agency, they'd be in prison.

But I'd love to see comparative numbers on Catholic v. Protestant child abuse, if they exist.
