PROGRESSIVES ARE ENRAGED THAT THEY CAN'T CHANGE THE HIERARCHICAL NATURE OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

Try as they may, progressives in the Church have been trying to reform the nature of the Church as a hierarchical one, to one that is not. Of course that wouldn't be the Catholic Church and thus they have failed in their attempts.

Commenting on Bishop Morris who was fired as a bishop of an Australian diocese, another Australian bishop gets it right. Please note the all important last sentence below:

Australian archbishop weighs in on bishop’s removal
May 04, 2011

Archbishop John Bathersby of Brisbane said he supported Pope Benedict’s decision to remove Bishop William Morris from his position as Bishop of Toowoomba, one of Brisbane’s suffragan sees.

“I feel sad about it all, but I'm sure there must be a lot of reason in the decision the Pope has made,” he said. “I don't know all the ins and outs of the situation of what a bishop may have done. I think that's something between the bishop and the Pope.”

Commenting on reports that Bishop Morris was removed over remarks on women’s ordination, Archbishop Bathersby said that “the Roman Catholic Church is hierarchical and the Pope is at the top of it, and when the Pope makes a decision we accept it.”

Is it too late to hang on to him and trade him to the Anglicans for one of theirs that is coming around? Maybe the bishop was impatient waiting for the Peking Duck and had his goose cooked ahead of the change.

RCG, I quail before your juvenile word play with bird names. You are robin me of a whole nest of witticisms. I hate to egg you on because much of what you say is hard to swallow. From heron out, I will no longer crow about your comments, you old buzzard. I have to go and get petrel for my truck.

Tucan play at this game. (Ok, I'll stop).

But seriously, both progressives and conservatives think it's over women's ordination, but as I understand it, bishops don't get removed without a canonical procedure, and since those are confidential, we don't know the actual charge. NCR can throw a nutty all it wants, but he may be being bounced over something we could all agree deserves bouncing.

The "progressives" still want a hierarchy . . . they just want "the people" at the top. They want the pope and the Magisterium to be subject to the will of the laity, and if the pope makes a decision that runs counter to their perverted understanding to the sensus fidei, so much the worse for the pope.

It's ironic that they stess this fiction known as "the people," so much, because "the people" became a stand-in for God for many folks during the Age of Enlightenment--an abstract sovereign to which to appeal, spoecially knowable by a priesthood of the elect made op not of clergy or baptized but by the true believers in whatever political movement that proposed to rule in the name of "the people." The republicans of the French Revolution, the Jacksonian Democrats, the proletariat, the National Socialists who were supposed to represent the "true" Aryan spirit of Germany, the New Left, the Counterculture, and now those who insist in "democracy" in the church. all any of these groups did was to swap one type of authority (and in some cases tyranny) for another, always in the name of "democracy."

It's time for you people to pull your heads out of the sand and stop feathering your own nests with self-praise. The political raptors in the Church are circling above the pope's archaic pecking-order, waiting to swoop in for the kill.

Most of the world doesn't give a hoot who is on top of the heap. And while you coo and coo over yourselves, the folks keep crossing the road to get to the other side, denominationally.

You think a big ternout at your convert event means something? Think again! You grouse over little things, silly loons! Comes a serious challenge and you quail, sanctimonious bevy of dodo brained believers!

Your church building is nothing more than a guilded cage, and we know why the birds therein sing. Having spent all that money, you're too cheep to fly the coop and be real human beings!

And by the way, who killed Cock Robin?

JJ, most people don't relate with the pope on a personal level, but when Catholics have to read the type of stuff you spew, yes, they want to leave for a denomination that leads people to charity and kindness and those who might be considering the Church might really wonder what the Catholic Church does with her members when they read the type of stuff you spew. I would would suggest a retreat with someone who can teach you about the love of God and neighbor. I would suggest Jesus Christ be your retreat Master in a long silent retreat with Him before the Most Blessed Sacrament.

To quote Foghorn Leghorn (continuing this bird-brained thread), "It's a JOKE, son!"

Oh! never mind, as Roseanne, Rosanna-Dana use to say.

Is it a joke? Perhaps Audubon is Ignotus plucked of his ecclesiastical feathers, as it were. If it isn't, I'll bet it is close.

BTW:
A wonderful bird is the pelican,
His mouth holds more than his belly can.
He takes in his beak
Enough food for a week,
But, I'm damned if I see how the hell he can.

With minimal reason to growl
He escapes what would be
Illegitimacy
By grace of a fortunate vowel.

Joke or not JJ, methinks you are a Nuthatch entirely out of order with your sarcastic pecking. There's humor and there's less humor, and your rantings are a combination and therefore humorless.
