His behaviour in front of the world during his last years was the most inspirational and life affirming act I have ever seen.

I love the photo of him as a 'young' pontif in the garden, tall and strong. But I had no idea of his strength until I saw him bent and quivering under the weight of age and disease. He carried the cross for his Savior, happily, showing the world the value of the most decrepit life when lit and buoyed by Christ. Scorn and derision was poured on him for his frailty. And he loved us anyway.

I can't help but think how wonderful for Benedict to have had to honor of placing this title of Blessed on his dear friend JPII, a Pope he so dearly served when Ratzinger was head of the CDF.
