SILERE NON POSSUM HAS ITS OWN REPORT ON THE VATICAN FRATELLI TUTTI DEBACLE

THIS IS A GOOGLE TRANSLATION OF SILERE NON POSSUM’S ITALIAN ARTICLE. WOW!

Even Cardinal Parolin can’t believe his eyes in terms of how few people are at this very expensive event:

With the pontificate of Francis, Vatican communication has undergone an epochal change. The problem of bad information, in fact, is no longer external but internal. In the Dicastery for communication, one of those that weighs the most in the annual budget, manipulable subjects have been introduced, guided by ideology and who obey the master. These are people who have never had the ability to elaborate a thought, a sentence, without being "feeded" by someone.

If a bishop organizes an event and does not have a friend in the editorial staff of Vatican News, he has no possibility of giving visibility to his event. If it is a question of some prelate who is also in opposition to Pope Francis, he can forget to appear on that site which is a real party bulletin board. The problem, however, is that most of the time Vatican News completely distorts the truth or even hides it. This tells us a lot about the people who are leading this project which involves big expenses and very little income.

Consider, for example, the case of Marko Ivan Rupnik. Andrea Tornielli has never allowed any publication and has only reported the texts of the communiqués that were issued by the Society of Jesus. When he was at La Stampa, however, the journalist carried out real media pillories towards various subjects. On several occasions he continues to speak of clerical abuse, but clearly "zero tolerance" concerns only those who are interested in him.

Today, signed by Adriana Masotti, an article celebrates the World Meeting on Human Fraternity that was celebrated yesterday in St. Peter's Square. The journalist says that thousands of faithful were present. In reality, the square was empty.

The motto was #notalone. Yet, unfortunately, it must be noted that they were really alone. The square was completely empty and the only ones to animate it were the guests of honour. Those few people present were tourists, who did not last long, and friends of the Franciscan cardinal. During filming, many noted, the technique used was the same as the Pope's Angelus. Vatican News only captured the front rows and the stage. Not even by mistake did they take a shot of the square from above.

No participation but a lot of money was spent on this event. During the signing of the Declaration on human fraternity, in the presence of Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the square was completely empty.

Father Enzo Fortunato, Father Francesco Ochetta, Cardinal Gambetti and the Secretary of State were to sign a declaration where the name of Jesus Christ does not even appear by mistake, rather than celebrate the first vespers of the Solemnity of Corpus Domini.

How much money did the Fratelli Tutti Foundation spend on this event? Where does the Foundation's money come from? Does the Promoter of Justice investigate these matters or is he too busy appearing before foreign authorities to be celebrated by the newspapers?

Father Ochetta, general secretary of the Foundation, commented on some photos of the event on Facebook, writing: "Unforgettable". Yes, it will be an unforgettable flop. We hope that someone will investigate this expenditure of money, otherwise it will be clear that justice in this state has also become a long arm of the party to kill those who do not like the monarch.

Pull the strings, who profits from these antics? The faithful are clamoring for the Church to return to proclaiming Jesus Christ, his Gospel and Catholic doctrine. If someone feels the need to plant trees and proclaim the Gospel of "we love each other", he can go back to the fields of Romagna to jump and sing.

What is “Silere non possum”? How credible is it? I assume this is the article in Italian:

https://silerenonpossum.com/il-fallimento-di-gambetti-e-le-fake-news-di-vatican-news/

I have fact checked a couple of things. First, the claim that in the case of Marko Ivan Rupnik “Andrea Tornielli has never allowed any publication and has only reported the texts of the communiqués that were issued by the Society of Jesus.” This statement is incorrect, as a simple Google of “Vatican News Marko Ivan Rupnik” reveals. In addition to the statement by the Society of Jesus (published by Vatican News on December 20, 2022), Vatican News also published a statement by the Bishops of Slovenia on December 22, 2022. Here are links to the two items:

https://www.vaticannews.va/en/vatican-city/news/2022-12/jesuits-present-timeline-of-investigation-of-father-rupnik.html

https://www.vaticannews.va/en/church/news/2022-12/slovenia-bishops-statement-marko-rupnik-abuse-case.html

Second, regarding the main topic of the article, I cannot find anything by Adrianna Masotti from today. I do find this article from two days ago, before the event:

https://www.vaticannews.va/en/vatican-city/news/2023-06/notalone-event-at-vatican-to-show-that-fraternity-is-possible.html

This article explains that:

“Saturday's late afternoon "World Meeting on Human Fraternity" in St. Peter's Square has been a great desire of Pope Francis, and much anticipated. The Meeting will begin at 4 pm Rome time and is open to anyone wishing to participate. In the morning, there will be opportunities to discuss the theme of human fraternity, with the event bringing together some 30 Nobel Peace Laureates, together with young people and humanitarian associations, . . .

The centre of the event will be in St. Peter's Square, but with a live, worldwide dimension: eight squares in other places around the world will be linked live via television so that participants around the globe can share and promote their own experiences of fraternity. The participating countries and cities are: Italy (Trappani), Congo (Brazzaville), the Central African Republic (Bangui), Ethiopia, Argentina (Buenos Aires), Israel (Jerusalem), Japan (Nagasaki), and Peru (Lima). . . .

“For those who will be in and around St. Peter's Square, access will begin at 2 pm, with the event continuing into the evening from 8:45 pm until 10 pm.

“Circus and street artists will perform among the people in the Square. At the numerous stands being set up along the Via della Conciliazione that leads to St. Peter's Square, Italy's agricultural association Coldiretti will offer food from the Italian countryside as a sign of sharing and fraternity.”

Except for those specially invited, it sounds like it was a “drop in if you happen to be around” event.

Silere non possum claims that St. Peter’s Square was completely empty. More importantly, it also claims that the Vatican News TV broadcast of the event tried to hide this fact by only capturing the front rows and the stage with no shot from above. I don’t think this is true, depending on how one defines “from above”. There is certainly video from a higher elevation. See the following video at 7:49-8:20:

https://www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/2023-06/pope-the-heavens-above-invite-us-to-walk-together-in-fraternity.html

If they were trying to hide the attendance, they didn’t try very hard.

All this might seem like nit-picking, but it does at least raise a question about the credibility of claims made by “Silere non possum.” Are we to assume that they are yet another “Francis-bashing” outfit that takes liberties with the truth while calling others "fake news"?

So, I have now seen your preceding post on this event. As you rightly point out in that post, there is drone footage from above—on the Vatican News video. And yet the Silere non possum piece states that “Vatican News only captured the front rows and the stage. Not even by mistake did they take a shot of the square from above.” Unless I am missing something, this is either incompetence or a malicious lie. How ironic, then, that they also claim that “most of the time Vatican News completely distorts the truth or even hides it.” Projection anyone? Apparently, this outfit knows quite well how to be silent about the truth.

How much longer are we going to put up with these sorts of dishonest antics—which will only get worse with AI to help the perpetrators, unless we do something to defend facts, truth, and integrity?

Mark Thomas,

No one is interested in fake, watered down Catholicism pushed by your pro abortion Pope who calls Biden a “devout” Catholic.
Enjoy Hell

Mark Thomas,

That was Latin but braindead leftists would not know that. My 3 priest friends, all in their 39s, pastors who celebrate the TLM laugh at your Golden Calf and just carry on. They will probably be bishops someday unless your Golden Calf tries to destroy Catholicism by “ordaining” women. You’d like that, I suspect

Mark,

You put up with dishonest tactics all the time: think New York Times and the Russian hoax for which some “journalists” received Pulitzerss!

Has present clerical corruption in the Vatican reached or even exceeded the worst times in the Middle Ages?

TJM:

I see you are playing the whataboutism card again. Anyway, you are wrong. Once tactics have been clearly demonstrated to be dishonest, I do not put up with them but condemn them whatever the source. For example, on this very Blog I condemned the NYT for using misleading pictures of the crowds at Trump’s inauguration (taken earlier in the morning) and contrasting those pictures with pictures of the crowds at Barack Obama’s inauguration. That was deceptive—not to mention stupid, given that Trump’s crowds at the time of the actual inauguration were smaller anyway.

I do this because I am consistent in applying matters of principle. On the other hand, many people are not. For example, if Barack Obama had done half of what Donald Trump is accused of doing in the documents case indictment, we all know what you (and the GOP) would be doing—you (and they) would be calling for the book to be thrown at him. And the important point is—so would I (whatever the Democratic Party might do). Now will you allow the legal process to play out and then condemn Trump if he is found guilty?

I see that Trump’s former AG Bill Barr is trying to restore his integrity. Better late than never.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-indictment-bill-barr-fox-news-b2355541.html

“If even half of it is true, he is toast,” the former attorney general told Bream. “I mean, it’s a very detailed indictment, and it’s very, very damning.”

Mr Barr also demolished claims that Mr Trump is some kind of victim being politically persecuted in a Democrat-led witch hunt.

“This idea of presenting Trump as a victim here or a victim of a witch hunt is ridiculous,” he said. “Yes, he’s been a victim in the past. His adversaries have obsessively pursued him with phony claims. And I’ve been at his side defending against them when he is a victim. But this is much different. He’s not a victim here.”

Mr. Barr continued: “He was totally wrong that he had the right to have those documents. Those documents are among the most sensitive secrets that the country has. They have to be in the custody of the archivist. He had no right to maintain them and retain them.” . . .

Mr. Barr also noted: “There are two big lies that are out there right now. One is that: ‘oh, these other presidents took all these documents’ ... and the second thing is this idea that the president has complete authority to declare any document personal is facially ridiculous.”

I mention the Trump indictment because it is a test for whether there is still hope for facts, truth, and integrity in our politics.
