I find it odd that Pope Francis did not ask for prayers before he entered Gemelli Hospital for his latest surgery. He did request prayers for his first colon surgery at a Sunday Angelus and even joked a bit about the surgery.
Not this time.
And since the surgery, there has been no photo of the pope in the hospital. When Saint John Paul II was in that very same hospital after he was shot in 1981, eventually a photo was released of him in bed, wearing a hospital gown.
I find the absence of voice or photo from the pope a bit concerning making me wonder if we are being kept in the dark on purpose.
Pope Francis' Prayer to Our Lady, Health of the Sick
O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope.
We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick.
At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain,
with steadfast faith.
You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need.
We are certain that you will provide, so that,
as you did at Cana of Galilee,
joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love,
to conform ourselves to the Father’s will
and to do what Jesus tells us:
He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us,
through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.
We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God.
Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.
- Pope Francis, March 2020

Father, I mean no disrespect, but as I read your observations about the way this information was being managed, one word kept repeating itself loudly in my mind:
"DUH!"
The Holy Father is high mileage and needed some serious repairs along the way. He is headed where we all go in this life, so I have included additional considerations in my daily prayers for him. I pray his suffering is eased and his focus on his mission is increased.
