I have returned to my former parish of Saint Anne’s in Richmond Hill to cover for my successor who is on a pilgrimage to his native Poland with a large group of my former parishioners.
He posts on the Saint Anne’s Facebook page pictures of this glorious pilgrimage. They’ve had stunning weather too.
Today they visited the Saint John Paul II Center. The modern chapel has Rupnick’s art in it!
Should Rupnick’s art be ripped out in shrines, churches, etc, throughout the world? His art is everywhere including Padre Pio’s ultra modern shrine in southern Italy.
What to do? What to do? Oh, What are we to do??????

Immune from the Cancel Culture?
Benvenuto Cellini was an atrocious person who produced excellent art. The cancel culture is an adolescent exercise and we should rise above it. Fr Rupnick is an atrocious person who also is a disgrace as a priest. Removing him from his office and even perhaps even the priesthood is not too severe and is a result of his actions and lies. But his art should stand on its own.
Not worth the time and expense to remove except where people support its removal for a variety of reasons, taste among them.
As mentioned by rcg, he wouldn't be the first sinner to create lasting monuments.
