POPE FRANCIS INSULTS AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME THE BRAZILIANS

Here is a sound byte of the Crux article which explain the discomfort and anger of not a few bishops, priests and laity:

“For Catholics like us, it causes strangeness and bewilderment the fact that Pope Francis frequently has rough words to address countries governed by conservatives which, to a certain extent, fight the society’s dechristianization, while only rarely he shows criticism towards leftist governments,” Viotti said.

If the story is true as is written, the pope's remarks were in jest--a rather questionable jest for someone holding that office--but in jest, just the same.

I strongly suspect this has something to do with the decades-old football (soccer) rivalry between Argentina and Brazil.

Like most leftists, PF is a sad, angry man. Father McDonald there are some wonderful photos today at the New Liturgical Movement, under the heading "Tradition is for the Young" which you will thoroughly enjoy.

It did sound that bad to me. Maybe he was being over familiar, but it sounded like a joke about American food.

All pretended outrage to try and make a friendly gesture into a political point - big fuss about nothing!

I meant “did NOT” sound that bad. Sort of like a joke about Cleveland. Everyone expects it.

That horrible, tremendously hateful joke in question is tame as compared to the following:

I am not a mother-in-law, but in union with each person who is aware that Pope Francis...sorry, Bergoglio...is grumpy, I have taken offense to the following nasty, rotten joke:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36pChpPiOVo

He not only attacked mothers-in-law via that hateful joke, but he also attacked families as he said...families quarrel, and sometimes plates fly.

Wow! What a grumpy man.

The St. Gallens Mafia has foisted upon us grumpy "Bergoglio."

Okay...so probably 99.999999999 percent of the world's sentient adults would classify grumpy "Bergoglio's" jokes as inoffensive.

And, well, yeah...okay, so the jokes are inoffensive. But we must pick daily at Jorge "St. Glallens Mafia" Bergoglio. Otherwise, how would we, who hate Bergoglio's guts, pass the time?

I seriously doubt that anyone posting here and certainly not Father McDonald "hate Bergoglio's guts".

Most of us are just disappointed.

VERY disappointed.

I suppose the year of St Joseph, HH isn't quite following the example...May I suggest that he start.

Pray, keep close to the Holy Mysteries of the Church, ignore what is coming out of Rome these days.

UK - Priest,

Do you believe in transubstantiation or are you an artful dodger like Mark Thomas?

This is second time I have posted this comment in an attempt to place the record straight.

I subscribe faithfully and obediently to the Church’s teaching on Transubstantiation and that should not need to be questioned in an open forum in such an offensive manner.

Yes, we are "VERY disappointed" that Pope Francis made an innocuous, inoffensive, lighthearted joke.

What a horrible situation.

The disappointment in Pope Francis is so profound that even my neighbor's cat has lost sleep over the Pope's inoffensive joke in question.

My neighbor, Mrs. O'Vigano, is so disappointed in Pope Francis that she has just been hospitalized.

Uh-oh, the latest word is that her cat, Mister Humorless, having been so disappointed in Pope Francis, has just lapsed into a trance. A catatonic trance.

Mark Thomas, you don't get it.

It's not the stupid joke that disappoints so many Catholics. It's the whole disastrous, embarrassing pontificate.

Have fun cheering for the next Synod on Synodality. The late Cardinal Martini would be proud of you.

Tom Marcus,

Give up, you are dealing with the non sentient, but prolific "cut and paste" king.

Cut and paste?

Known to sentient adults as "citing sources." C-i-t-i-n-g s-o-u-r-c-e-s, Pierre.

C-i-t-i-n-g s-o-u-r-c-e-s.

"
1. quote (a passage, book, or author) as evidence for or justification of an argument or statement..."

Pierre, please attempt to grasp the above.

:-)

C-i-t-i-n-g s-o-u-r-c-e-s. You know, sources that have shattered your false claims.

Okay? Got it?

Thank you for having revealed the truth.

The non-story news "story" was couched originally as certain folks having been offended by a joke that even a tree stump would have understood as inoffensive.

But even a tree stump was aware that the umbrage taken in regard to the joke was a ruse.

The offense taken was the result of Pope Francis haters who feigned outrage so as to attack the Pope.

Tom Marcus, you revealed the truth...revealed in big-time fashion...when you said, "It's not the stupid joke that disappoints so many Catholics. It's the whole disastrous, embarrassing pontificate."

It was never about the joke.
