“are not in communion with God; they are excommunicated.”
Vittorio V. Alberti, who is coordinating the working group on behalf of the dicastery, said that while the pope has said mafiosi are excommunicated and many bishops in Italy and other countries have denied public funerals to notorious members of organized crime syndicates, “we became aware that in the social teaching of church, in canon law and in the catechism there is no mention of the excommunication of mafiosi,” so the dicastery wanted to establish a group to help bishops around the world apply the teaching of the popes.
The group also will promote initiatives to help all Catholics understand that there can never be “any possible compromise” between the church and organized crime, Alberti told Vatican News.
My Comments: The last sentence above applies, I would suggest, to Catholic elected governmental official who promote crimes against humanity in the form of abortion and infanticide.
Thus, at least a censure and ideally an excommunication against Catholic governmental leaders who promote civil and religious crimes should take place and all of this codified in canon law so there is no question how individual bishops should proceed!

Yes, there is. It is the bishop in his diocese who is the "enforcer" of the Church's laws. And he has that authority by divine right, not by canon law or, in a derivative way, from the pope.

So, the Vatican says we cannot pick on anyone simply for killing babies, we must discuss also petty theft and adultery, BUT, if you are in the mafia, "YOU'RE GOING TO HELL!!".

Dying excommunicated is a ticket to Hell. Being refused a Christian burial is next closest thing.
Meanwhile, we are not to even refuse Communion to those with the power to stop or slow killing babies bit who instead are all for the killing without also discussing all the other common sins, and all bishops must instead only jawjack some more, while a Vatican dicastery and the pope talks automatic excommunication for those in the mafia.
So, anon814, please explain how this is the product of an overheated imagination, where those outside the Church (even by Vatican II standards) are doomed to Hell, and the Vatican and pope are all for making that separation official?

Well, pro-choice politicians like Biden and Pelosi did not take their seats by a coup. Someone elected them, and as I recall, Biden after his first Senate election in 1972 never really had a close race after that, and Pelosi's San Francisco district is among the most liberal in the country, akin to John Lewis's old district based in the city of Atlanta, a district that gave Biden 86 percent of the vote. Is there evidence that Pelosi is out of touch with her constituents? If not, then perhaps we need to address whether the problem is pro-choice politicians or the voters who elected them. You know, politicians tend to reflect the views of their constituents if they want to stay in office a while!
Nonetheless, when it comes to ex-communication (which in a sense means "no Communion"), NuVatican says, "Mafiosi si! Pro-abort CINO politicians no!"

I noted that about a week ago on Father McDonald's blog.
In regard to Catholic voters, to support the Democratic party, as well as Republican party, is to support abortion.
After all, one Democratic, as well as Republican politician after another, promote abortion.

Well, no they didn't. But serious moral issues, such as abortion, are the last things that should be determined by popular vote or opinion.
