BEFORE PEOPLE OF A PARTICULAR POLITICAL IDEOLOGY GO BALLISTIC, THE GOOD THING IS THAT THE VATICAN IS REIGNING IN SYNODALITY MISUNDERSTOOD

Here is a straightforward report on Cardinal Ladaria’s intervention with the USCCB on denying Holy Communion to pro-choice politicians:

Cardinal Ladaria cautions US bishops on politicians and Communion

Here is the NCR’s leftist commentator’s perversion of this letter:

My Comments: Recently I highlighted that Cardinal Czerny stated that denying any Catholic, politician or not, Holy Communion is the sole responsibility of the bishop of that person.

In most cases, denying a Catholic Holy Communion is based on canon law and usually revolves around illicit marriages. Most of the time, this does not go to the bishop, but the local pastor is responsible for speaking to a Catholic who is in an illicit marriage and communicating to them that they are not to receive. If that person persists in receiving Holy Communion, the pastor has recourse to the local bishop, NOT THE CONFERENCE OF CATHOLIC BISHOPS!

For public person, such as celebrities and politicians, the local bishop should do the dialoging with the person. Each bishop, then, would have his own perspective. Of course the Vatican could assist the bishop and local conferences of bishops could do so also.

An unnamed canon lawyer also stated that with heads of states, such as the president of the USA, that it should be the pope who makes the decision given the fact that the Catholic Church in the situation of the Vatican which is a State and the pope the head of state, has diplomatic relations with heads of states of other countries and even embassies.

Thus, if Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi or even President Biden, attended Mass at Saint Anne’s (and don’t laugh, I have had extremely high individual in one of the branches of the USA government attend Mass at St. Anne’s, I would not deny them Holy Communion, especially if I was unaware of them attending my Mass. If I knew ahead of time, though, I would contact my bishop and follow his order or recommendation. Fortunately, in my situation the person attending was in good standing.

But, Cardinal Ladaria’s missive to the USCCB should be seen in a very positive way and also within the context of his warnings to Germany about their synodal process and plans to break with the Universal Church’s mission to teach morality based on Scripture, Tradition, the Deposit of Faith, the perennial magisterium of the Church, not to mention Natural Law.

He says to Archbishop Gomez the following: “Every effort should be made to dialogue with other episcopal conferences as this policy is formulated in order both to learn from one another and to preserve the unity of the universal church.”

The Germans certainly have been warned about this too. And now it is the American bishops being warned.

Reining in? You mean trying to put out the very fire that they started?

Good luck.

Well, the other option is to not reign it in which doesn’t seem to be the chosen option.

So, as long as Cupich doesn't agree, he effectively has a veto. Not good.

Since Biden believes in Global Warming, the Pope will do nothing.

To me it says fake unity trumps reality, and that if one cannot get those with heretical leanings to agree with those with more orthodox leanings (as if that is gonna happen),

then rather than call them out and kick them out if intransient in their heresy, just continue as before, so we can pretend to be one big happy, so that the heresy can continue to spread through rank and file, and we leave an even bigger mess and weaker Church to deal with same at some indeterminate future time.

Pardon me, but this is exactly the behavior which put us in this current mess.

For the Catholic politicians, is it just their proclamation on abortion or is it the sum of their public proclamations and their personal lifestyles? The political platform of the leading Democrat politicians isn’t just pro-abortion. One can also look at their activities and platform in HHS and education. Often they aren’t simply going against Church teachings, they lead a group that is absolutely anti-Catholic. Regarding Melania, I don’t know if she abstained from communion, Cuomo did. I don’t know the validity of Biden’s marriage, or much of his personal life. To me the danger of Catholic politicians like Biden is their anti-Catholic rhetoric combined with wearing their religion on their sleeves. They try and portray themselves as the true face of Catholicism. It’s an anti-Christ political play on the Church.

Just another example of the "managed decline" of the Church from the top.

FROM THE TOP.
